I don't know much about Bryson's game-- but I will say, this won't happen.

You're right, Mrazek doesn't waive for Buffalo.
& TML brass is very high on Engvall for his play/cap value.

Yeah, really comes down to how bad they want/need cap space. I'd take Ritchie back instead of Engvall too

the leafs arnt moving Mrazek until at least the off season, unless they can get a backup who is just as good or worth the downgrade somewhere else.
this aint it

I don't see much reason to do this. We are just helping toronto clear cap space. Upl is supposed to be back, I suspect he's gonna get every chance to play for the rest of this season. Plus I think Bryson is gonna get a chance to play the right side.

the feeling I get from TML fans is that if Buffalo took on Ritchie's contract, they might be able to drag something else out of Dubas. Not the worst idea for the Sabres.

I mean tokarski has a similar save % on a much much worse team, at a fraction of the price.

UPL has been injured like 4 times since being drafted. One major surgery as well. I'm not holding out that he lasts the remainder of the season tbh

Buffalo(and all teams with space really) could AND SHOULD leverage teams like VGK and TML for their cap space in this exact manor

sure, but tokarski is just that bad as a career average, Mrazek has been getting better since he's gotten healthy and by the time he has 7 more games to hit the 15 tokarski has, his numbers will be much better more than likely

Thats all speculation though. We have no idea what his numbers will look like in 7 games. He could get smoked in 2 of those games and its gunna look terrible. That said, obviously would rather have mrazec if im TML

BUT..cap space is a premium they dont have the luxury of playing around with. That plays a large factor here

it's not so much speculation as a goalie playing at the level he has shown he is capable of. He's a career 910 guy including two injury plagued seasons, Tokarski is not. Mrazek is also 3 years younger and well in the wheel house of goalies putting up their best numbers age wise.
averages and career trajectories have a way of evening out, and of course stuff can happen, but if you're trying to compete for a cup you bank on a guy being his career average, not keeping up deflated numbers when 2 games he played hurt are already tanking his numbers

We also don't need to clear cap this season, we are a top 3 team in the NHL on points % so I wouldn't say that this team is desperate to add.

Pretty bold to claim you can predict anything a goalie will do, lol.

TML should absolutely be adding to bolster their depth for the playoffs though. Cant do that without cap space.

Leafs easily say no lmao. Mrazek is staying for the season and has value to trade him in off-season if we need to. Why would we trade engvall?

expecting a guy in the middle of his career to play at average for his career isnt remotly bold, and it's funny that you suggest bolstering depth by removing depth.
a better back up is much more valuable than a 5th bottom pairing defender

I meant to say defensive depth, that's my bad.

they dont need that either. The leafs are a top 5 defensive team in the league with a top 3 PK and they have half a dozen 'depth' guys already. I get that people have been talking about the leafs needing to upgrade their defence for like a decade now, but they already have. Their defence is fine
