Is Lundkvist already an expendable asset to the NYR? Because that habs gladly take that swap 1 for 1 without the 4th.

He's not expendable...a little bit of a slow start in NY and playing mostly with Nemeth hasn't helped him...nor has getting very little PP time (because Fox plays almost full 2 minutes). But Lundqvist still has a bright future in front of him. Still projects as a top 4 D man, and PP Qback...his biggest problem in NY is that he has Fox, Trouba, and Schneider in front of him. I wouldn't mind trying him or one of the others on the left side...but haven't heard any mention of that- probably because NYR have a few left side D prospects about to push the lineup.

Statsny is solid depth, I wouldn’t be opposed to having him center a line with Chytil and Goodrow; however, I would much rather give a guy like Barron a chance to develop

Are you crazy? The habs should 100% accept that offer. Hell Lundkvist 1:1 is solid for both sides. Also you dont have to be patronizing in your replies, this is all for fun but you people take this too seriously.

Of course I want to develop Baron...but Stastny trade would be a move for a playoff push- which would (temporarily ) make Barron's development secondary- since he has not yet "claimed" the 3C spot. A third line of Chytl- Stastny- Lehkonen (or Goodrow as you mention) could be dangerous- and could possibly enable a deep playoff run...which would probably do wonders for the development of LaF and Kakko.

Hey, I'd rather keep him. In no way am I trying to jettison him...but the reality is that he's an asset...and they are deep with the skill set he offers. So might as well use his value to bring back help where they are light on assets: the C position or the RW position. The one thing I don't want to do with him is move him for a rental. Lehkonen would still have value after this season.

Giving up too much in the Lehkonen and Stastny deals.

I just don’t think Lekhonen is anywhere near worth that.

Fair enough...just putting it out there...don't like Lehkonen or just this deal? I mention him because NYR have indicated they want to strengthen their bottom 6 defensively...and as a result his name comes up a lot. If not this deal, what would you offer?
As far as Stastny, I've seen other offers of a 2nd for him. While Pajuniemi has made strides, I don't think he'll be in NY for the long term...I think he projects as a middle 6 sniper- just don't think that will be available to him here. If they could get more value for him, that's great- but if he seals the deal with Stastny, then NYR get the 3C they really need for now...who can fit in top 6 in a pinch...and if things don't go well negotiating with Strome, they have the inside tract to keep him around another year or so.

Jimbo, its gonna be a no from CHI. We don't want LD back in return for any package for CDH. Thats the last position of need unless its a #1 guy or potential #1 guy which we aren't getting in any CDH package.

Our aim will be a 2nd rounder or Prospect (CHI need) + 3rd/4th.

Not sure NYR would part with a 2nd for a 3rd pair rental…but they have a boatload of prospects they could couple with a pick to make this type deal…and NYR (at this point) don’t require retention- so CHI could eat salary in other deals (to extract better value).

If not interested in Hajek…all good…just wondering who (or what position of need) might peak your interest…outside of the obvious + Korszac…plenty of prospects to pick from.

Not for a bottom 6 rental, most likely for an elc C like H Lapierre

Our preference would be for forwards so yes probably along the lines of Korszac or another forward guy. Not sure who you would allow in any discussion?

Korszac's stock has really risen...so I doubt he'd be in the discussion for upgrading 3LD...but could see him in a package back for a guy like Kane, Pavelski, or Giroux (geez- I really hope they DONT go this route of adding a high profile top 6er for 1 playoff run!). In the end, the types of prospects I could see in play for a temporary 3LD upgrade would be guys like Henriksson, Pajuniemi, Gettinger, a bunch of others on the Hartford roster, etc. If the cost is too much, NYR might be just best sticking with Jones at 3LD...instant upgrade over Nemeth, he's familiar playing with Schneider, and he might be the long term fit there anyway.

I would think one of those three players and the 3rd would likely get it done for CDH. Also food for thought, we could do a deal including Kubalik for the right package
