My thoughts on the TDL

Description
My thinking for the Canucks going into this trade deadline is to go after players with term and that help them win kinda-ish now. Guys like Boeser, Pearson, Hoglander, Motte, and Halak are great trade pieces. Boeser, Motte, and Halak probably won't be in Vancouver next season. So trade them now and get some players with some term that can hopefully allow the Canucks to win now and maybe get a playoff spot. They could very well get hot and make a push for the playoffs.
I don't trade Miller this season at the deadline. I try to move him either at the draft or at next year's trade deadline. The Canucks could get a load full of picks or another great piece to move them forward at the draft. Also with only 1 year left on his deal more teams might be in the mix for his services OR depending on the roster next year maybe he signs an extension.

Why would Vancouver move Hoglander? Cheap, effective energy winger that can play with anyone.

Why is it a given that Boeser will/should be moved? He was our leading scorer last year (his first ever fully healthy year after dealing with a major back injury, lingering wrist issues and a tough family situation). He's over PPG and would be on pace for a 30 goal year under Boudreau.

I think we're dealing with lingering reputations and old narratives more than anything. Pearson has been effective this year. He was the top-9 player I despised but he has been very effective in his role as a net front, along the boards guy. Specifically his passing has been better this year; he's found Boeser quite a few times for shots and opportunities. Before he used to just ram the puck towards the net from anywhere. I can think of multiple instances this year where Pearson didn't get a point but he was standing right in front of the goalie with a perfect screen.

The OILERS are NOT giving up assets for another backup goalie, they already have three backup goalies under contract

Winnipeg shouldn't trade their 1st this year and don't really need and can't afford to sign Boeser long term. I also thing Vancouver would want a higher end roster. piece coming back

I like Hoglander, but its less of a need for us than Severson.
Anyway, Canucks would be moving Miller, Garland before Nils, no?

    Stanley 6'6"
    Lowry 6'5"

Can't get much higher than those guys. Maybe Dubois on his tippy-toes.

I don’t think Hoglander gets moved, I would be sooo mad if Garland gets traded, the most likely to get moved will be Miller but I hope it’s only if a team really overpays

As mentioned above...Oilers next goalie move is for a #1 [period].

But who knows - Oil is a mess, so could get a decent deal from them...
