The Penguins are slammed up against the cap and management has said that they aren't interested in trading away early picks and top prospects, so I don't think the MAF trade is feasible, but I wouldn't mind getting him back.

Thats fair, we could take back cap to help. Beaudin was to help offset the loss of Legare.

If I'm going to be honest the Penguins goaltending situation is quite alright. Jarry has been playing out of his mind and in my biased opinion he is one of the best goalies in the league. I wouldn't mind moving prospects like Legare but for a goalie (even if its MAF) I'd have to pass.

Thanks for the feedback. Would there be a package you would be prepared to pay for MAF? Would be good to have him in case Jarry doesn't turn up in the playoffs?

Valid, what would take this over the edge? Both may benefit from change of scenery.

It could be because I don't see Zacha as valuable as some to me he is a top 9 player and that's all imho

The issue is the pens literally have zero space, it doesn't matter if you retain or not unless equal salary is coming back. That said, I don't know what the Pens would be willing to move to free up the space in return for MAF, or what the Hawks would actually want.

As someone pointed out the goalie situation is pretty ok, but if the Pens do make a move it will be for someone like Halak or Holtby with DeSmith going the other way.

Would adding Shaw (LTIR) allow this sort of a move do you know? Or is the accrued salary too minimal to effect at this stage of the season?

Devils wouldn't do this.
Lateral move at best for a significantly worse contract.
Plus, Devils are trying to lose middle six forwards, not swapping one for another.

Eh, not a big fan of the Caps trade. It's not bad considering we lose Kempny, but it would mean we have to send down someone that we shouldn't. Maybe the cap space is worth it, just don't want to potentially lose Irwin to waivers.

Too minimal. Pens need to free space up even with accrued since it's all still relative.
