I don’t see the flames trading their young star for an aging vet. That’s just poor asset management

There’s no reason for Calgary to move Tkachuk. Frankly it’s insulting that neither of Kyrou or Thomas are in here and you expect a 2nd back. Calgary has no need for an injury prone, aging veteran with one year left, nor a small LD, nor a B prospect. It would probably take Kyrou AND Thomas in the offer for Calgary to take the offer seriously. You don’t trade young stars, especially when they have as unique a skillset as Tkachuk.

Tkachuk would probably take like Kyrou a 1st + a top prospect or another 1st.

Well, that's excessive.

You wouldn't do Kyrou, Bolduc and a 1st? Or Kyrou, Neighbours and a 1st? Or Kyrou + 2 1st for Tkachuk? Kyrou is great but he's not nearly as complete a player as Tkachuk. I personally think thats about what it'd take to get him and I'd be all for it. He's already got 4, 20+ goal seasons. One of which 30+ and then there's everything else he brings. He'd be a perfect fit with Thomas.

No, I absolutely would not. As good as he is, Matty is not two 1sts more valuable than Kyrou. That's nuts.

Besides, until he inks a new Flames deal, chances seem decent he could go UFA in just over a year. No need to overpay in trade when he could well come home for no acquisition cost if we can be a little patient. Or even less patient than that if the Flames know he won't re-sign and he becomes available a cut trade price.

Maybe you extend an offer sheet whenever that would become an option.
