You traded for a player you slotted on your top D pairing and someone you slotted as a #2C. Those are both considered big splashes in relative terms to the trade deadline.

I doubt thats going to do it from CHI perspective. Too much Qty and bringing back Moore defeats the purpose of moving CDH this deadline.

I doubt we'd move Graves this year. Maybe at next deadline, if some of kids step up...but we need him to bridge to next generation.

Yes but CDH separately could get a 2nd and Strome has been brilliant lately and if we decided to move him I think there would be better options on the open market.

This package may have worked while Stan was still there and JC was coach but I doubt this would even entertain a discussion currently.

Honestly, I am not ruling out end of this year! (very small chance though)
The plan had been he does two full seasons and then likely signs ELC when Michigan is done in April 2023.
Stops in NJ for cup of coffee and burns a year of ELC at end of 2022-23 season.

But, he made that plan after draft and while he was still recovering from injury.
He has proven himself in NCAA.
The Devils have 30 games in last 60 days of this season (and an already banged up blueline)
And there is an investigation surrounding Pearson that might impact things.
So could be early arrival, who knows?

But the best bet is he plays handful of games down the stretch nest year. And full-timer by 2023-24.

I would add though, related to Graves.
Hughes likely competes with Ty Smith and maybe Reilly Walsh for NHL role.

Graves would likely have to be usurped by Bahl or Okhotiuk

yeah that's why i could the devils trade Graves this TDL, i know the best is to keep him but i don't think it would that bad to make Bahl or Oko play 20 games. Next year you would have Smith, Siegen and the best out of Bahl, hughes or sign a lhd like Ian cole to put less pressure

Plausible. The emergence of Siegenthaler has really been the thing that makes it >0% chance. But I still think they wait.

Only move I think we make for 2021-22 is adding a goalie.
