for the islanders to retain on mayfield's already extremely cheap contract they're going to need better assets than what you have in that trade (not to mention it's not really close to what they're looking for in a mayfield trade anyway), and i doubt san jose even considers that offer

I hope your Kidding right?
Meier is 25, signed for next year, and on a 90 point pace for the sharks this season and his underlying metrics are off the charts.
HARD no from the shark without multiple 1sts and multiple quality prospects coming back

I completely agree with you. The 1 thing to keep in mind is that 10m QO. That minimum he gets 8×9m

the QO is literally only if you don’t intend to sign him long term, I expect him to get 8.5/9 for 8 depending on how next year goes.

Wow that is an atrocious offer for Meier, IMO that’s not half of what he gets at half retention

That's what I'm saying he gets at least 9m for 8m years. Because of his age if the sharks offer him say 8×8 he will just take the 10m and then hit UFA.

Why would you do that though? That’s 64m compared to 10m.

Rodion Amirov is a top prospect (2020 15th overall). SJS gets a first as well, and a third for retention purposes.

Its because you aren't aware of the prospects that I put in the deal coming from TOR to NYI. Hirvonen captained Finland at the WJC. SDA will be a quality middle-six play-maker and PP option. Both guys aren't A grade prospects, but they are certainly no lower than a B. Mayfield will garner maybe a first at most, but getting two quality prospects is adequate compensation. This deal doesn't even need to be retained or have Hole in there.

To get Timo with hair retention will cost Robertson, Amirov and Niemela plus a 1st, 2nd.

The QO thing is so tired. If you had a choice between 10m 1 year or 8.5mil for 8 years what would you do? If you choose 10 mil you better hope that it's your best season ever. Timo is not dumb, he'll take the multi year deal.

Ok and?, Your acting like a prospect will always work out this espically lowers as hes russian as well. Meier is a youngstar who can score in the NHL, Amirov is 20 who can score in the KHL sure he can be a good player in the NHL but dont act like they all hit, for Meier id at least want 2 firsts and a A+ prospect espically as hes hitting the RFA market not UFA market

Because then you have him as opposed to a different team. Now idk if they think he's worth that kind of money but someone will, and if he doesn't get it from San Jose he's gonna take the 10 million and then get it the next year in FA.
