I think you mean "Anaheim gives up one of their best trade assets for a 3rd liner, a 24 y/o who has been extremely underwhelming during his AHL/NHL career, and a 3rd next year. Oh, and they also give up their 3rd this year".

Kap is cool and all, but there's really no reason to do something like this. They already have multiple players who play the same role as he would.

You get younger. Also it's supposed to be a 5th not a 3rd idk why it did that. Kapanen can produce we saw it the year he got traded to us. Idk what's with him this year, but Both Rakell and Kapanen are having down years and are producing about the same. Also yes Kapanen is 25 which means he still has many years to get better. It also will help you next year call wise because Rakell will be asking for more money

It just doesn't do it for me. Again, I said this on another thread-I've got nothing against Kappy, but he is what he is...a 3rd liner who can move up a bit to fill a hole if needed...issue is, the Ducks already have about 80 mid-6 guys.

As for the cap-acquiring Kapanen puts them around $60 mil for next year. No real need to worry about helping cap-wise...

Also, Rakell has 6 goals in his last 7 games. Good time to heat up...

Kapanen really isnt a 3rd liner. On your team hes replace Rakell in the top 6. He can bounce back it's just a matter of the teammates he has

If the Ducks trade Rakell it wont be for the floundering Kasperi Kapanen, someone thats trending towards being a mediocre career AHLer and a swap of thirds

Terrible Value for ANA "Getting younger" doesnt mean anything when it makes us worse now, and will make us worse in the future because our 3rd will surely be a better pick than that PIT one.

Not even considered by the Ducks

Yeah, he'll do much better playing with us than with bums like Crosby and Guentzel and Malkin and Rust . . .

I'd like to say one thing. Fans always go based off themselves, however we have no idea what GM's are thinking. So when you say ANA would never trade for Kapanen and they dont want him, that could very very wrong (or very right)

Yes, that's true, I never expected an actual NHL GM would pay a high first and a second for Rasmus Ristolainen, or give Marc-Andre Fleury away for nothing . . . but by and large, most moves are reasonably predictable -- especially ones that WON'T be made.

Look at the state of the Ducks, we are in the middle of a rebuild. And you cant truly think this would be the best offer we get for Rakell

And if you do you're in denial.

We can retain and take a contract back as well, worst case we get just a first, best case we get a first and a good prospect

Hakanpaa is signed for a good cap hit. Why would DAL move him?

Idk what people are getting bent out of shape over that ducks trade could work out well for them. I like that it isn’t for picks and an actually playable option the team can use right away and next year.
