TDL Moves

Created by: exo2769
Team: 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2022
Published: Feb. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. 2022 5th round pick (COL)
  2. 2022 6th round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Honestly, a 3rd seems like a bit much, but a 5th seems like too little. COL doesn't have a 4th which seems to be just right so maybe the 5th and 6th?

CHI

    BUF
    3.
    CHI
    1. Koskinen, Mikko
    2. Turris, Kyle
    3. 2022 1st round pick (EDM)
    4. 2022 2nd round pick (EDM)
    EDM
    1. Fleury, Marc-André ($3,500,000 retained)
    2. Kubalik, Dominik
    Additional Details:
MAF has said two things about the TDL. A.) He wants to win and B.) he wants to sign an extension wherever he ends up because he doesn't want to move his family again. So, he's not a rental.

Kubalik is an arb eligible RFA...so he can also be extended for another year relatively cheap.
    4.
    CHI
    1. 2022 3rd round pick (CHI)
    Additional Details:
Just saw AD is out a month. Gus is a nice temp PP QB. That's actually something he does well being a puck mover on the Power Play.
    CAR
    1. Gustafsson, Erik
    2. 2022 6th round pick (CBJ)
    5.
    CHI
    1. Abramov, Mikhail
    2. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)
    Additional Details:
Saw this from a Leafs fan. I'm sure they had other moves, but this by itself is pretty good IMO.

Ironically we cant give you a 2nd this season because the 3rd we gave you for Keith is a conditional that can turn into that 2nd. 😂 But yeah this trade is doable for us.

Doubt Fleury wants to go anywhere in Canada though..

I think the Chicago-Edm deal is right about where the Oilers need to go, the 2nd in 2022 probably needs to be in 2023 since the 022 pick could end up already being Chicago's if Keith meets the right requirements haha. Also think a prospect from Edm (Savoie or similar) would need to be going back to Chicago, maybe Konovalov as well.

I'm not sure Buffalo has any interest in taking salary on, unless something nice is coming back.

    Colorado and 4th round picks:
"We don't do that around here."

I like the idea of adding Carpenter, probably would be a good move since I see one of Jost or Compher moving in a deal to acquire a Giroux or something. Would be nice to have another bottom 6er. Does he kill penalties decently?

Why pay assets to dump connely and not use the cap space?

Connolly is for next year's cap. The team above is just to finish out this year. I'm more of a fan of dumping him than buying him out, but that's an option too I guess. They hopefully will use that cap space to add to the team.

Still stuck between whether I think we should rebuild or try to compete next year. My mind says rebuild but my heart says compete

If we're going to tear it down then we need to approach Kaner and have a hard discussion.

Canes have viable options for PP QBs they wouldn’t have to pay for. I’d much rather have a downgraded option in my PP units vs have a huge downgrade in my defensive corp at 5v5. Big pass on paying an asset for Gus.
