Hypothetical Sell at TDL

Created by: All_Knowing

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 25, 2022

Description
The hypothetical sell at TDL. After last night's performance, truly the Caps should consider either staying low at TDL or selling some assets. We looked terrible.

Below is the worth of players I would be open to selling:
Carlson = 1st + A Prospect (might need another addition)
Schultz = 3rd
Sprong = 4th
Orlov = 1st + A prospect (need another addition)
Oshie = 2nd + B prospect

If selling goalies:
Sammy = 2nd + 3rd or B prospect
VV = 2nd
Trades
1.
WSH
  1. 2022 1st round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Trade starts with a 1st and A prospect
ANA
  1. Carlson, John
Additional Details:
Any team looking for an overrated offensive RHD
2.
WSH
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
Trade starts with a 3rd. Don't see much else added honestly
ARI
  1. Schultz, Justin
Additional Details:
Any team looking for an decent rental RHD
3.
WSH
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Trade starts with a 3rd or 4th - don't see much else added
BOS
  1. Sprong, Daniel
Additional Details:
Any team looking for a depth forward
4.
WSH
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Trade starts with a 2nd and B prospect (factoring in his contract and injuries). If sold last year, it would be a 1st and prospect
CGY
  1. Oshie, T.J.
Additional Details:
I don't think the Caps should trade Oshie - but if we were going to a full rebuild, wait until Oshie value is higher. I think RIGHT NOW (factoring in injuries and his contract), I think a 2nd and B/B+ prospect is fine (undervalued yes)

I don't think he means Calgary in particular. (Note that all of the other trades say Any team.). Calgary is just the next team in alphabetical order after the first three because he knows Buffalo ain't buying anyone.

Caps outplayed NYR last night. Igor killed it. Caps are fine and will get better the healthier they get.

Thanks. Just was a random team - sorry meant to say "Any Team"

Caps did not outplay NYR last night...I was at the game
Yes we had more shots, but we only had 3 real chances. Ovi breakaway, Hathaway breakaway, and Kuzy bad bounce on the PP. We had more possession numbers because a) Rangers stink at possession and b) we were losing the majority of the game.
We looked slow (per usual) and not aggressive. Our PP still is garbage - NYR had more chances down a man than we did up one. Carlson had his worst game of the season (and that is saying something).
I sure hope we get healthy and better - this was just a hypothetical

Oshie wouldn’t waive, he’s dead set on finishing his career in DC.

Numbers to lie:

12-10 in high danger chances
23-19 in scoring chances

Was a good game (except those last 10 minutes). Igor just killed it and Caps flubbed most their good chances.

Still think the Caps are fine...? Losing to a team that has 2 wins in 2022
Provide all the numbers you want, but the only ones that matter are Ws and Ls. You can "out chance" or "outplay" teams all we want, but doesn't matter without finishing.

Same scenario. Outplayed them. Just got goalied and flubbed on our scoring chances. They're fine. They always find themselves.

I like the optimism. Here's hoping. Yesterday was a low point (and with 2 massive opponents next - here we go)
