Realistic Deadline

Team: 2021-22 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 28, 2022
Published: Feb. 28, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Kings will not likely spend much at the TDL, however, if Lias Andersson and Vladimir Tkachev are packaged with a pick, the Kings may get something done.

Kings upgrade Maata (trade away for a 4th to Toronto, or any team really) for Leddy (Andersson, Tkachev, 4th). Red Wings move Leddy without retention for picks/prospects and still can retain on two other contracts to maximize returns.

Each defensive pairing has a veteran with extensive playoff experience and has a player to balance weaknesses (Roy stay-at-home for Leddy's offense, Edler stay-at-home to open up Durzi more offensively). Bjornfot or Spence can be brought back in the event of injuries. This addition also bolsters special teams/scoring, areas of weakness for the Kings.

Ya, Kings get a 2022 3rd and 2023 3rd for JeffCarter and 50% retention. Both conditions are over. Like you said, the condition on the ‘23 pick was Carter playing 50 games. He did, so it’s a 2023 3rd.

Andersson is more well known for his temper tantrums than his play. Yzerman is big on character no way he brings Andersson to Detroit. Tkachev is a AHL player until he proves otherwise. At 26 seeing his first NHL action at the start of this season and hasn't been called up since I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. Leddy is available for a 2nd or a 3rd.

Tkachev has been in the KHL up until last year, but yeah defensively he has issues. The guy can score, just not right for our system. Andersson hasn't shown many temper tantrums here, but he does play with a chip on his shoulder.

As for Leddy, fair enough, I don't believe Leddy has been as strong offensively for a $5.5M player not known for his defense, which is why I thought trading him with no retention would drop his price some. The Red Wings already are retaining on one contract, so thought maybe it could be an option.

I don't believe you will get a 2nd and 3rd for Leddy with no retention. A third was my thinking, but maybe that is just me.

Two nothing prospects and a 4th ain't doing anything for Detroit. They should be able to get a 2nd or 3rd for Leddy 50% fairly easily

First I said a 2nd OR a 3rd not a 2nd AND a 3rd.

With Tkachev I'm not sure where you're getting the scoring from. He played 71 games in the Q and scored 26 goals. In the AHL he has played 25 games and has 4 goals and the NHL he has played 4 games and scored 0 goals. In 100 games in North America he has 30 goals.

Andersson threw his Silver medal in to the stands at the WJC and then walked out on his AHL team he a very selfish player and Yzerman won't bring him to Detroit.
