                                                                                                                                                                                    You'd have Brown at $4.5M for 1 year more than Staal at $5.9M.
                                                                                                                                                                                    The reason I had LA retain salary was so I could retain on Brown's last year or two if need and make him really attractive at $2.25M at the end of his contract, so you could do that as well.
                                                                                                                                                                                    I'm not trying to talk you into it, if you just don't want Brown you can say so. I think he's a good fit for Vegas, but you might think differently.
                                                                                                                                                                                    You're also getting rid of Staal in the process, and you'd likely end up having to retain salary on him to get rid of him in a different scenario.
                                                                                                                                                                                    You're saving a little over $2M for 1 year, $1.4M for 3 years after that, and spending $2.25M in year 5 to get (probably) a 3rd round pick by renting Brown (if you no longer want him at that point).
