Description

The theory behind Bemstrom being in the Garland trade is just that Vancouver lacks for right-shot wingers, relatively speaking, so maybe he would be useful there (he's also close in age to Podkolzin and Hoglander, so there's that). Most of the real value is in the 1st and the cap savings.

The Domi trade is just a garden variety Domi-for-2nd, with Abruzzese thrown in as the cost for 50% retention.

Roster is a hypothetical healthy one, which is why guys like Texier and Bean and Robinson are showing up in the lineup. In practice, other moves are likely (in particular, a Korpi trade and keeping Berube up as backup). I did send Chinakhov to Cleveland mostly because Gaunce is doing so well right now, but that's more a sentimental thing rather than a sound hockey decision...

Texier, no. Roslovic, mmmmaybe. I personally don't want to trade him but that's because he's a Columbus kid and so I'm sentimental.

(That and we're kind of short on centers...)

Good thing a cap dump wasn't offered, then. The guy's a UFA rental, with 50% retention.

Abruzzese's just a guy I've seen regularly suggested. There's other possibilities.

Not sure I can get behind the Vancouver trade. The Jackets have Voracek and Bjorkstrand at RW right now with guys like Chinakhov, Marchenko coming soon. Plus, still aren’t sure Kent Johnson is a center. Garland to me although very good is just creating more of a problem on the wings.
