Description
Would anyone be interested in watching a series on this years sabres team? Obviously it wont be an "all or nothing" as they likely wont make the playoffs but could be interesting story lines having one of the youngest teams in the league with two first overall picks making their rookie debuts along with the other talent. Also makes it interesting if the pegulas sell the team, could possibly get a more inside look at what was really going on inside the eichel situation without the threat of being fired.

Would have to be a first +++. Casey Mittlestadt does not have much value at all.

Lol I agree, the thing is you either send peterka down (which may be best option rather than fourth line) or scratch okposo which i dont see happening. I believe nichuskin is just a bigger and much better version of asplund

Sure man, the difference between the fla 1st and the buff second will be like 8 slots so I would honestly rather do that as the sabres

Lol i hate the "tough talk" as much as you. Just was looking for a steady d to let dahlin do what he does best. The 1st pair d and second pair would be deployed similarly in ice time. Obviously gudbranson would get some pk time

You’re still taking an 18min defenseman & putting him with Dahlin, up against other teams’ top scorers, AND it’ll be for over 20min a night
Just doesn’t seem like a great idea
I think you’d be asking too much of him

You are probably correct, if not him I am just afraid we go with the right side of joki psysyk and bryson tho, are you thinking they taker a swing at manson? No one in FA is really going to take up those minutes i feel

I think we look for a partner for Power, NOT Dahlin
It’s almost impossible to find a 25min a night guy that a team is willing to trade- and if u do, the cost would be insane
BUT
Maybe a guy like Manson could work with Power for 18-20min a game though?
Or possibly even Gudbranson in that spot
*or whoever else we happen to like

My guess on what the defense looks like next year:
Dahlin-Jokiharju
Power- (UFA/trade)
Samuelsson-Pysyk
Bryson

So not “great” by any means, but still a lot of (mostly) young talent that can grow & turn into a really good defense

My thought process is that we don’t need to find “all-stars” to play with Dahlin & Power, but just solid guys that help them develop into the studs they should be

I completely agree, I was quite surprised how well bryson worked with dahlin last night especially considering how they were deployed mostly in the defensive zone.

Excellent post, of course a dream team at this point.
Husso would make this a playoff team.
He was the ONLY reason Buffalo did not win in STL.
I love the Lundkvist trade, and the Gudbranson signing.
While we can single out Asplund and Anderson, Skinner has been a man possessed the last month.
Buffalo obviously has a top line for the foreseeable future, but needs to find a second line.
In the past many people commented that Okposo was slow he certainly did not appear to be last night.
Once Olofsson is traded, Buffalo would need to find a left handed player to fill his skates.
I wonder if that second line could be Mittelstadt (not traded) Cozens Okposo (If Quinn is ready obviously it would be him).

I love Okposo and Cozens playing together. Okposo is good enough defensively to cover for when cozens faulter (hes young) . I am truly so excited for the future.

So am I.
Granato has them believing in themselves.
Since the Sabres only had 37 pts last year with Hall, Eichel, Reinhart, Ristolainen and Ullmark, it was only natural to presume the team would be much worse.
Yet with 42 points they have exceeded that total with one less game played.
The team had a short bench to start the season but with Olofsson playing hurt while Girgensons and Hinostroza are out of the line up, relying on Hayden and Jankowski to score just will not happen.
Losing the top RHD Miller obviously did not help the offense.
I knew Thompson would be good, but when did we see him and Skinner play with so much energy.
Dahlin has stopped making terrible mistakes and only Hagg has more SH TOI than Samuelsson.
While the on ice performance did not result in wins, they played well enough against Dallas, Colorado and St. Louis to earn points.
All three of those team just have too much talent.

In short I agree, I am excited.
This is a very difficult division, they could get to 100 pts next year and still miss the playoffs.
