Such a tough spot to be in. I feel bad for the leafs. They should be in the position to mortgage the future. This should be their time, with the core coming into its own, and Tavares still very good.

But then there’s florida, and tampa, and boston right there. Even if these players could be acquired, i still think tampa speed bags them. And if somehow they get out of the Atlantic, the best case scenario is they get Sidney Crosby chasing one last cup. Worst case is the buzz saw that is Carolina. Just very very tough timing.

Seems like an overpay for Giroux+Braun. I believe it was reported that Fleury wants to finish the season in CHI and the new GM was going to honour that. For Chychrun I doubt ARZ would take Muzzin back without knowing if there are any lingering effects from his injury, and that really impacts the value of the package they get. He could either become a cap dump or return to being a solid top 4 D. Either way I dont know if they would agree to 4x2.3M retention

Completely agree this is best case scenario, and actually by the time I ended wouldn't need the retention on chychrun.

Even if Fleury would waive, that's not going to do it. Don't want Mrazek's cap dump and would be looking for a first for Fleury

They can ask what they want. If Fleury wants to go, they've promised him to move him where he wants.

They have like 3 people under contract next year and need to hit the cap floor. And high priced UFAs won't want to play in a peewee hockey rink. They might be willing to retain.

Correct, why would he want to go to Toronto? He did say he wants to win wink

Just refusing to trade Giroux in general or think can get more in return elsewhere?

A better return. I mean I guess it's not the worst. But I would want Sandin or liljgren instead of Dermott

But i still think we could get better from another team

Holl has a lot of interest around the league. Has positive value. Mrazek had a bidding war for him. Many people can't play in Toronto. I'm sure also has positive value.

Fair enough. Though "not the worst" seems a pretty reasonable response to a deal reasonable for both sides. And I could see them adding liljegren in this situation. Instead of the 1st though. He has looked good and is really young.

The NTC wasn't visible on my screen. Doesn't matter here though. Can stay on Kucherov Island.

Don't be so sure about either of those....had is past tense and everything I've heard and seen about Holl is...well not great

And if you really believe they have value, look elsewhere and give me a first and third for Fleury half retained smile

Not getting a 1st and 3rd for him. Supply and demand issue, plus Fleury hasn't exactly been good this year until recently.

Im sorry I would have to respectfully disagree that Mrazek would have positive value towards us. Holl is also not in a position of need so the value if any is negligible for us. I think Mrazek and 1st would probably do the trick personally but I don't like that deal necessarily.
