why do we need a starting goalie? Sammy is good enough to be a backup for now or trade him to get a vet backup.

area i think we need to upgrade would be to add a good 3rd line winger

Fehérváry is really good imo. he's still a rookie and we are grooming him to be a #1 LSD so taking him off wouldnt help his development. Orlov imo is a solid 1LSD but we have him paired away from Carlson

Giordano isnt an upgrade over MF and Lindholm would likely cost us way more than i would wanna give up for a rental

that could get it done but cap space would be an issue unless he signs for like 6.5-7m'

I wonder what would’ve happened if he didn’t get injured in game 1 against Boston

All of those are offensive defenseman. Hence the large contracts.
I'd be pleased of you can find me 1 legitimate defensive defenseman, that got over 7 mil.

IMO, Orlov is our #1 LD. He just plays with Nick Jensen - the true top/shutdown pairing.

But I don't think he's a top pair caliber defenseman ,.More suited for 2nd pair

Wen Weber signed that contract he was on pace for 56 points around those Years. 2 way defenseman. Lindholm this year is on pace for 30 points.

Suter was around 47 points when he signed his contract. Both of them signed for 7.857m.

Great comparable. But when brodin signed his contract he was on pace for 35 points. He also signed for only 6mil.

Spurgeon was on pace for 41 points. He signed for 7.5 mil.i think my logic still stands

Orlov is one of the leagues best puck moving defensemen in his own zone and the Capitals are the 2nd highest team that relies on Defensemen carrying the puck into the O zone... Orlov is easily the Capitals best overall Dman and is a sneaky underrated #1 LSD. id say hes Lindholm good

I mean Laviolette is pretty stubborn so he’d probably pull him in favour of Samsonov

Just saying he needs to go

Capitals need to get a coach that plays youth... people focus on Vrana and Bura trade but we gave Stephenson away for a 5th and Seig who is one of the better defensive dmen in the league for a 3rd... signed Panik and Chara and prioritized them over those 2

Kessel (-$3M) for Kempny, 3rd

If the rumors are true (about them not being able to get a 3rd) you should be able to up the retention to $3.4M (50%), and probably make the 3rd a 4th. Arizona could then flip Kempny for another 4th or so.

A little more cap space for the Caps to od whatever they need to, and Arizona ends up with two 4ths since they can't get one 3rd.
