He scored 40 goals one season then a cult activated thinking he was better than Ovi, just turn to be on of the most inconsistent goal scorers the team has ever had.

Actually he only had one season with a dry spell, if anything there was a cult who wanted to blame all the teams problems on Laine and run him out of town, they got their wish but the problems still remain and have actually gotten worse.. 🤷

Nah he was that inconsistent, I went to every game and saw his play style. Unless he had a full line dedicated to him feeding the puck while he floated around he was a liability.

I watched every game too, he was not a liability outside of his rough stretch in his third season.

wheeler is old and useless now, the organization made the mistake of keeping him for 5 years after, Sheifele was always a diva that only wanted to score goals and never play defense. Laine was just so inconsistent wasn't a guy who would drive play or carry a line. He just floated around until someone would give him the puck and never backchecked

Yeah but those are legit top 3 players in the league at their respective position. Not sure if it’s fair to judge everyone by those standards since they’re so few players at that top end of the league.

I watched them all on TV, I saw what he did for this team, also saw how he lead the forecheck and backcheck while Scheifele floated around and Wheeler struggled to keep up.

But wpg wouldn’t have Pionk without giving up Trouba so it’s kinda a catch 22 here
