That's a lot to be giving up for Ellis IMO. He's a good player (he played with my hometown OHL club) and I know his play really well. But I'd like to keep Neilsen and see what he's got.

I love Ryan Ellis probably one of the most underrated D-man in the NHL :rock

It's a lot, I agree, but it's the price we'd have to pay to get a top four RHD. It's a weaker draft this year which is why I chose the 2017 1st.

Really like Ryan Ellis but that's too big of a price to pay

Even though it might be a fair package I don't see NSH moving Ellis for prospects. They are probably going to be in the market for a center that can play right away with Fisher not getting younger and the possibility they lose Jarnkrok/Wilson/Smith to expansion
predview738 and Swisspred liked this.

As a Preds fan, I don't think we would do this deal. I realize Nielsen has a good amount of value, but we have the same upside in Juuse Saros. Ryan Ellis is very underrated, solid defenseman. We traded Leipsic to the Leafs for a rental and this years draft is weak.

I realize Nielsen has a good amount of value, but we have the same upside in Juuse Saros.

Only problem is, that A. Nielsen is a D and Saros a G. But you are right, we have prospects who have the same upside as Nielsen (S. Girard as LD, Fabbro, A. Carrier as RD). And we have locked up Josi and Ekholm for at least 4 years. While Leipsic is a NHL ready bottom 6 winger, we have plenty of them, thus we traded Leipsic to the Leafs, as predview738 said.
Nashville has one need and it is a solid 2C, because Fisher is 36, Jarnkrok is better suited as 3C, Sissons is a 4C with 3C upside, and Kamenev with the highest potential at C is at least 1 year away from being a solid 2c.
Nashville has no incentives to trade one of the top 4D, if the price the right one. I personally think that Ellis is at least a very good #2D and i think a top 30-40 D has a bit more value
I hope this helped
