When I was like 16, I asked for a decent raise when I was working at my first job, which was in tourism. One of my co-workers had said, in passing, that he was going to get one. I was absolutely convinced that I'd get it, but, it never came. Why? Because my value wasn't what I perceived it to be, because there were plenty of other people who would do it cheaper and/or or better.

A similar situation is going on here with Habs fans. They perceive a players value to be higher than it actually is, because someone said something in passing, and they continue to run with it, regardless of doing any logical or critical thinking. Hampus > Chiarot. Gio > Chiarot. Chychrun > Chiarot. Sanheim > Chiarot. Heck, there's probably an argument to be made that Nick Friggin' Leddy is right there with him.

Could it happen? Sure. People do dumb things all of the time (See: Chuck Fletcher). Will it happen? It would be pretty surprising. If someone has offered a 1st for him, they should immediately say yes, and hang up the phone so that the other team can't realize what a mistake they've made.

Demelo has been great with Morrissey and has increased his trade value form the 3rd rounder we got him for, so the Jets would get a better offer than that, if they were to trade him, but since he is one of only two right shot defensemen, he won't get traded. Want a Jets defenseman, look at Dillon, Schmidt, or Stanley.
