I dont get it at all.. especially with us potentially losing Letang this offszn..
To me, Marino is an untouchable on this roster.

Me neither. Why move A 24 year old RHD who on a long term contract with a team friendly contract and plays top 4 mins for us. I like Brock (if that's what the potential trade really is) but its a pass for me.

I think people are just short sighted and think because Ruhwedel has been decent as a limited role 3rd pair defenseman, that he can suddenly play top 4 and still be solid. And because Luke Schenn was part of TB for their cup runs as a 6/7 defenseman that suddenly he being in the top 4 makes the pens a better team over Marino. I don’t get it. I’d hate to be a goalie and have any of Ruhwedel, Friedman, or Schenn as a top 4 defenseman that is one Letang injury away from being the top pair RHD. Trading away top 4 D is not usually something playoff teams do either. Just doesn’t make sense at all.

I was just told that I was the only one to have this opinion too. Glad I’m not the only one lol.

@dgfresh78 told you that I’m not the only one that thinks trading Marino for a middle 6 winger doesn’t make sense. 🤷‍♂️

The thought process is it is easier to find a 2nd pairing defensemen than it is to find a top 6 scoring winger.

I would 100% trade Marino, but not until the off-season when we can address his replacement.

None of the Pens top 6 defense should be traded at the deadline this year.

In order for a Marino for Boeser trade to happen Hextall will need to have already found a top 4 RHD in the market to take Marino’s place. There are decent options but I’d just stick with Marino. I’ve said it plenty of times. Vancouver would need to make a more interesting package for Marino

That’s not true though. It’s easier to find a top 6 scoring winger than a top 4 defenseman. Much less a top 4 RHD.

How many top 4 defenseman are going to be UFAs this offseason? Not many. After Letang, Lindholm, and Klingberg the talent takes quite a significant drop. Now you’re picking from guys like Chiarot, Beaulieu, Colin Miller, etc who are ok but more like good-great 3rd pair guys. Where as top 6 scoring wingers, you’ll have Forsberg, Pavelski, Rust, Malkin, Giroux, Hertl, Gaudreau, Smith, Palat, and I can go on and on and on.

I guess I disagree with you.
