At this point the Capitals aren’t beating the Panthers or Canes in a 7 game series. They still might get leapfrogged by CBJ. Teams seem to want to overpay for talent and this draft is going to be great

Doubtful. High powered offense vs out terrible defense and inconsistent goaltending.

I’m a Pessimistic cap fan though. I have 0 faith in them

Agreed. We are hot right now. New lines have been clicking. Vitek has been solid. We can compete. We are what we where like at the beginning of the year. Ot games. And scoring more than 4 goals a game. D needs to be upgraded. Need a good defensive defensemen.

As a leafs fan I love the idea of adding Wilson. Although, it would not cost a first to "Dump" Mrazek. I also don't see Niemela going the other way as hes our only top D prospect in the system right now. Hirvonen or Abruzzese would be more realistic.

Flat cap every dollar counts and if they buy him out they’ll need to sign a goalie. Think they’ll have 9m if they buy him out w 16 roster players. 1 goalie but no proven starters

I said nothing about what the cost to dump his contract would be, I said the Leafs aren't paying it. By all accounts 3.8 is fine for a backup (if not a little expensive), so if anything, they let Campbell walk and go get another 3.5-4m goalie to compete for the starter role WITH Mrazek in the off season, rather than giving up assets OR buying him out and having dead cap. For this playoff run, if they want a legit starter, they go make a splash for a goalie with an expiring contract like Fleury or Holtby, or they just hope Mrazek or Campbell can get hot. I'm not even a Leafs fan, just providing an unbiased opinion here...
