I would switch Giroux and Batherson, but this could be a playoff team

Unfortuantly don't see them giving up that much money in an offseason, also don't see them getting Fiala, I think that the Wild trade Zucc or another forward before that happens, Zucc wouldn't be bad and he would be a cheaper pickup though, would also be great with the Sens and Stutzle along with say Slavkosky, I might see Giroux. Even getting Zucc and Giroux would be an improvement but Zuccs contract isn't the greatest.

I don't think the Isles make that trade. As much as he gets ragged on by the fanbase, Mayfield is on a great contract for next year and the Isles cannot shed more NHL defensemen. Additionally, Brown wouldn't have much of a slot as the forward core for the Islanders already seems to be set.

Pageau and Brown would give u the best shutdown line. Mayfield is stuck on the 3rd pair behind Dobson and Isles won’t extend him to play the 3rd pair

I agree that line would be solid defensively, but I don't see the organization moving on from Mayfield at this time. Lou is a very big locker room and comradery guy, and Mayfield has been praised as a stand-up member of the club off the ice, and Trotz has touted his on-ice ability, specifically on the PK, several times. Based on the Isles not making any trades at this deadline, I just don't see Lou trading Mayfield when he stayed out of what was a very seller-freindly market this past week. Additionally, they still might extend him next year. He's played with Pelech a ton this year (albiet due to Pulock's injury), and I think the organization values him a lot.

Fiala is going to price himself out of there. He wants close to 8 mill and Minny isn’t giving it to him. Or else they would’ve signed him longer last year. And he has an even better year this year than he’s ever had. So yeah no chance Minny re-signs him

If we can get a solid replacement for Mayfield, then I say yes for NYI. Brown would fit in real nice here.

    Colin White : buyout (cheap)

Matt Murray : LTIR (likely IMO)

Nikita Zaitsev : trade him for another "overpaid player" but who could be more useful. Heck I'd trade him for Jeff Skinner if he had less term. Or endure him on the 3rd pairing, or even bury him in the AHL and accept it as a sunk cost.

I like Mayfield but there's absolutely no chance I would make that trade

Brown is an elite 2-way forward who produces 85% of 50-60 pts per 82 games at ES+PK. That is worth A TON, more than fans imagine.

Trading Brown would be morionic, a bit like more of the same since the moment Dorion became the Sens GM. They need to extend this guy.

I would pay a good price to get Mayfield but no sacrificing Brown.

We aren’t re-signing Brown anywyas. He’s going to want the Hyman contract

He's easily worth it. He's actually better than Hyman, just doesn't play with nearly as good players

But don't worry I know Dorion is the worst GM out there, he lets Nick Paul go so he can overpay bottom pairing D-men and useless players ( ex : Tierney)

I am just stating what I would do because it would have been so different than Dorion has done since the beginning, it's crazy (I'm talking without the benefit of hindsight)

Don't think I have ever seen a manager hurt his team more than help it like that.

I’m not paying Brown 5.5 per to play on the 3rd line when we acquire a top 6F or two and have to pay 6+ mill

We're having this conversation again lol. I told you before that I think very differently than most fans

If I could have a Pageau - Danault - Brown "3rd line", I WOULD, even if it costs 15-16 M$

    I wouldn't spend 6.25 on an injury prone goalie though, 3.5 on a total passenger, 4.75 on a 3rd liner, 4.5 on a 3rd pairing D-man, 2.0 on an AHL D-man, 3.25 on a 3rd pairing D-man on the decline, etc

My 3rd line would play as much (if not more) as my top-6 at ES because they are matched as much as possible against the other team's best lines. My goal would be to limit goals against, which has been THE big weakness for this team for years. They would also all have a big role on the PK. Top-6 gets the PP time.

That kind of 3rd line gives you an advantage on your opponent as they would outscore the other team's best line on a regular basis. We could have that with Formenton - Pinto - Brown.
