They also can't afford to sign him at this money. Might be in a bit of a pickle
I'm referring to the package itself, not the value. Ottawa can afford to pay him that, it's the minimum of what he's worth and they have the Cap space to do it. That's a non-issue.
Brännström is another LD prospect we don't need. We are already stocked with LD's who all will be as good as or better than him. Lambos, O'Rourke, Hunt, and Peart. The acquisition of Middleton further lessens that need, especially as he's not viewed as a rental.
Guerin may or may not be interested in Gustavsson. But it completely depends on what his plans are with Talbot this off-season. It's expected that Fleury wants to play at least another year and that Guerin views him as more than a rental and would like to extend him. But it begs the question, if he had any interest in Gustavsson why move out Kähkönen. Kähkönen has been better at every step of the way. I'm not seeing the appeal here.
Roger's is the Senators 17th best prospect, he adds nothing of significance to the trade. A pick is preferable to him.
There is nothing that would interest or address Minnesota's needs in this package.
