I know drafting a goalie won’t help for next year, but it will help for the future. If we draft one of Brennan, or Coward, they will grow into good goalies in my opinion. I think Vanecek may be an option, as Washington may go for Varlamov, or Holtby. I think they will find a way around it if they trade Allen. Maybe they resign a few guys to help tank. Also, San Jose has Kahkonen, and Hill… they don’t need Reimer unless they trade Hill. With Ullmark, or Varlamov we would be a good team, but I think we could afford them. Getting rid of Barrie would be good, as that would open up 4.5M. I don’t see them waiving though… if they do, then awesome!

Drafting a goalie does not help with next year.
I would love Vanecek, but if I am washington, no way I am getting rid of him.
Not sure who Montreal will play in net if they trade Allen.
Reimer would leave SJ short in goalies.
I would love Ullmark, but costly and wont be able to afford one of JP or Yama and same with Semyon.
We're honestly fine for goaltending. Skinner and Konovalov have both dominated the AHL (Konovalov also had a tremendous season in the KHL in the last season). It is very realistic that they could become an exceptional goaltending duo.
One the note of other goalies: Montreal declined our offer to include Jake Allen into the Kulak deal and Varlamov reportedly is uninterested in playing in Edmonton.
A lot of these goalie "upgrades" probably won't help in the long run. Getting a guy like Ullmark or Merzilinkis would be nice, but the package we'd have to send may do more harm than good, especially with Skinner and Konovalov in the wings. That's why I'm not too mad that we didn't draft Wallstedt. I mean, I still wish we did, but I don't see him as vital of a draft pick for us as people think.
All in all, I think this and next year will be painful and disappointing for the Oilers organization, but after that I believe we will be really good team. We have so many promising young guys I cannot wait to see in an Oilers uniform.
