Severson and the 1st are a lot more valuable to NJD than Nylander.

Re-sign Severson over the summer.
Add a wing who could be as good or better than Nylander at draft.

That's bound to hurt NJ more than help, because not only you lose Severson, you also lose a top-5 pick as well.

Wait 4-5 years to draft and develop a winger or trade for an elite scoring winger to put on Jacks line immediately.

I would trade for an extra winger for Nico's line (Jack will score plenty whoever he is with)
Zacha + 1st maybe for Nylander?

Or keep our best dman this year and resign him long term in the offseason, keep our top 5 pick this year who we can use to draft a winger or dman, and sign a winger for Hughes who is better than Nylander (Forsberg or Johnny Hockey)

I would love for the devils to get nylander but not if they have to give up Severson. Severson is the closest Player the devils have to being a #1 D-man

There's no guarantee that Forsberg or Gaudreau signs in NJ, they're also going to get considerably overpaid. Nylander is younger than them and on a super cheap deal. I also don't think they're that much better than Nylander, they're both having career years.

Dougie Hamilton says hello

Dougie Hamilton sucks this year. Idk how people don’t see that, his production is down from past years but after that he is horrible Defensively, he is lazy and slow skating back, his shot selection is bad, he is always turning the puck over and making dumb plays.

He hasn't been good after he broke his jaw but the season was already lost at that point. Before that he was our best defenceman by a mile and certainly more of a #1 than Damon.
