I'm still bummed about trading both Helleson and Barron. I wonder if this would have been a better play. Call it sour grapes or whatever you want, but I'm entitled.

Trading all three of Barron, Helleson, Timmins in the span of one season was a ballsy move by Sakic. Top 4 RHDs (or RHD prospects with top 4 potential) are hard to come by.

I left that trade because Lehkonen is going to be an important piece of the puzzle. I feel like they could have gone with a lesser move at D and still had pretty much the same shot at the Cup. The top 4 is already set with Makar, Toews, Byram, and Girard, so the question is really how much they should have paid for a 5th/6th guy.

Supposedly Helleson was reluctant to sign with COL given all the depth. Barron, you got to give to get and I would much rather have lost him getting an RFA than a rental. Timmins was the price for goalie.
