Habs aren't really in a position to give up premium futures for a rental, and even with an extension, Dumba doesn't really fit their timeline.

Agreed, value is fair just not the right trade partner.

I think the value is fair on the fiala trade but I really don’t think the canes have any interest moving morrow. They would probably trade any prospect other than Jarvis and morrow. The question really is what do the canes want to do with necas. I’m not in favor of moving necas even after a poor year but I could see a trade with fiala and necas making sense for both sides

My thoughts are that CAR would put Fiala and Necas on the same line and watch it just be absolutely stupid good.

Why are we thinking Deslauries would be extended? Term for 4th liner is a bad idea regardless the cost. And a guy like him costs a 3rd at the TDL at most and he would take a spot from Dewar/Chaffee/Swaney/etc. the rest of the year.

I also don’t think it makes sense to move Freddy. I hate that he’s taking a more talented player’s spot but he’s cheap and he’s proven he can play wherever. Dean just really needs to swap him for Jost ATM.

Montreal probably rejects, but after a lot of consideration and possibly a coin flip.

I have been very impressed with Deslauries! He’s a much better hockey player than I expected and his speed is very disruptive on the forecheck! I had no idea how fast he is!

From what I’ve seen from Jost so far, he’s the guy I would trade, but everyone around here has a cow every time I suggest the Wild trade a player just signed or traded for so Gaudreau got moved instead.

Fair. Jost should be movable for a decent price too if that’s the option, so I don’t think you’re out of line there. I disagree about Deslauries skill set but that’s the most affirmative answer I’ve seen.
