For that low ball offer John Klingberg stays in Dallas, Price and Drouin @ 50 retention for a bunch of meh pieces doesn't cut it. 20 man roster with 0 cap for injuries. Not going to work.

Who does Warren Foegele (11 goals and 14 assists in 73 games) replace? Adrian Kempe, who is 32-16=48? Alex Iafallo, who is 15-19=34? Trevor Moore, who has 14 goals (including an NHL-leading 5 short-handers) and 30 assists, and also leads the Kings in plus-minus (although that's a coarse statistic) and is tied for third in team scoring?

The thing with the Price trade is Habs retain half, and take Kassian's contract, which makes Price almost free for the Oilers. That's worth more than a 2024 1st and a bunch of late picks.

As much as i wish they trade Price so he can win a cup elsewhere with a good team, you're gonna have to give something more interesting for the rebuilding Habs.

Also, all your UFA signings are short of 1.5M - 2M each.

Price especially half retain starts with a first and Holloway. If you add Drouin half retain on top of that and ask us to take a bad contract, you keep on adding

Question for the uneducated : If you retain salary on a guy that goes to the LTIR permanently , does the salary retention gets wrote off as LTIR too ?

Klingberg's agent hangs up laughing hysterically at that low ball offer he turned down more in no state income tax Texas.

No, the retention remains active against the cap as far as I know.

Not my thread, but Price at 50% retained is still a massive, massive risk. I don't see anyone giving up a perennial 50-point RHD on a great contract plus SIX draft picks just to take on that risk. It just isn't happening.
