When did $1.5 million become league min? Forbort makes $3 million a year so half of that would be more than league min. Buying out Foligno saves them just shy of $2 million next season and cost them just over $900k the season after.

Why not sign with a team where he knows he can play, and maybe beat someone out for a top four role?

Unless they move some bodies out he doesn't really have a spot. He may get better opportunities elsewhere.
