why would Connor Brown & Alexander Kerfoot both sign extensions at lower AAVs than their current salaries?

Because they're both in their late twenties, and their games have both plateaued at this point in their careers

I might be wrong, but if you traded for a guy that's still under 30 and then you try and make him take a pay cut on a long term extension, he's gonna tell you to go pound sand and get paid what he deserves in UFA.

would want JBD in a Boeser deal, I like Kerfoot but not for a 2nd round pick and a Myers deal with Dallas would have to have some salary coming back like Khudobin or Faksa

I could maybe see Kerfoot taking a pay cut considering Vancouver is his hometown team, but I highly doubt Connor Brown takes a pay cut

Yeah, well I decided to give those guys more term and less money as oppose to vise versa, because a guy especially like Connor Brown plays the type of game that may not necessarily age well. They're both going to be 29 when their current extensions kick in, and by the time both their contracts end, they'll be pushing their mid thirties and be on the way down. Like I said, both player are pretty much are what they are right now and their current contracts are fair dollar for dollar value, but I wouldn't call them bargains

If Canucks weren't retaining salary on Myers, than yeah, they'd take one of Khudobin or Faksa back

still with only 1 million retained and Dallas having to resign Oettinger, Robertson, Gurianov and Holtby it'll be tough.

That's the Stars problem, no concern of the Canucks

Do you think this team is better than the one we have now?

Actually I do. They'll have a better record than the Canucks team this season has had, plus their cap situation is more efficient. Petey and Hughes taking steps forward in their development will help make up the value lost by trading away Miller. This team may not have quite the same level of firepower as the current team, but it for sure has better depth

Maybe sign a D-man like Josh Manson with the cap space you have. Otherwise, I like it!

I would consider it but I heard that he doesn't want to play in Canada
