Giroux isn't going to sign with a team that will likely be a bottom 5 team again and he definitely won't sign for less than 7M

I can tell by your name that u may not be very intelligent. It's his hometown team, there are plenty of viable sources saying he's interested and his kids are going to school in Ottawa next year. Sens haven't been bottom 5 in last 2 years and are on the rise for next year. Contract is for 3 year, at his age that is more than fair.

Why would Giroux be interested in going to Ottawa? Only reason he would be is if he's given up on a cup and wants the guarantee of being done hockey by April.

Giroux lives 5 mins from Ottawa’s home rink there’s a very real possibility he signs

Welp the Sens are going to win the cup way before the leafs ever will... Sens should be around playoffs this coming year and in next.

Canadian team hasn’t won a cup in the cap era and Ottawa is a small market team but I envy your optimism

Ottawa will make Giroux an offer, but it won't be the best offer on the table for him. If he comes to Ottawa, it will be for less than going somewhere else.

I'd lock Formenton and Norris you long term before signing Giroux

They're gonna make the playoffs with 2 AHL goalies, 2 top 4 dmen and 3 top 6 forwards? Makes total sense lol

Im going to keep saying this until someone can give me a good answer

Why are you using draft capital to dump Zaitsev when youre not using the cap space for anything?

1. Clearly there is a better chance of Giroux coming home to play with the Sens if Florida wins the Cup this year.
2. If Florida does not win the Cup this year, how about a 1 year contract, so he can chase a cup again next year if the Sens are not a playoff contender?

1. So Dj will stop playing him
2. Save owner money
3. Not a great look having 4.5 being a liability or just watching the game

Anton Forsberg is a top 15 goalie in the league, there are 5 forwards in the top 6 who are high end players also Connor Brown and Pinto can be top 6 players who are on the 3rd line, Defence relies on Sanderson being a top pair level player.

Top 15 goalie after 30 games lol? Before this year, Forsberg was being passed around more than a hooker in Vegas. Forsberg is gonna be just like Dreidger, goes back to being a nobody once the shine wears off.

People keep complaining about Zaitsev, and they have no idea what he brings to the team, and his salary is irrelevant. Zaitsev, Murray, and White were all needed to make the cap floor the last couple seasons. Next season we're looking at around a $70MM opening day cap hit. The following season it will be closer to $80MM, but probably not over. At that point, both Zaitsev and Murrays contracts expire. Don't worry about Zaitsev's contract and how much he makes. People that complain about Zaitsev always point to his salary first, as if that's a credible argument. It isn't for any team not near the cap ceiling.

Zaitsev is an NHL defenceman. he is the first defenceman over the boards on the PK, the 13th best PK in the league this season. The past couple seasons Ottawa has had to deal with Coburn, Gudbranson, and a severily declining Hainsey on the PK.

There's a reason Zaitsev has 2:49 of SH time per game. Smith doesn't want to play Zub on the PK, or the PP actually, he wants him on 5v5, that's where Zub excels. You get rid of Zaitsev, and Zub spends more time on the PK. JBD will eventually replace Zaitsev, let it happen when he's ready, not when fans are throwing temper tantrums over a defensive defenceman playing a defensive role.

Zaitsev had 5 solid months, and 1 bad month, relative to his teammates

Even strength goals forced versus goals allowed
Oct - 2GF 7GA GD -5 22.2% - (4th out of 6)
Nov - 6GF 6GA GD 0 50.0% - (1st out of 8, this was the month the team was horrible)
Dec - 8GF 6GA GD +2 57.1% - (3rd out of 7)
Jan - Injured
Feb - 7GF 6GA GD +1 53.9% (3rd out of 7)
Mar - 7GF 16GA GD -9 30.4% (4th out of 6)
Apr - 11GF 10GA GD +1 52.4% (3rd out of 6)

Zaitsev was 2nd in hits by defencemen
3rd in blocked shots by defencemen
Team lowest in giveaways per 60 minutes among the regular defencemen
4th highest in takeaways per 60 among the regular defencemen

Zaitsev's first season in Ottawa wasn't great, but he's been solid these last two seasons
