In my defense...... hold...... McDonagh!!!!!

This is the third time I've bet on the leaves. The previous two games we won, so my intentions were good wink

Well, I had Tampa in 7 so we're still on track for what I expected.

Would have preferred to have had the ability to win in 6 though.

Hear me out.

Let's lose in the first round and then sign Paul to a good value 4-5 year deal and try again next season when Foote is elite and Hagel and Paul have settled in more.

Why do you think JBB kept his first this season? ;-)

Exactly. Might as well use your first when it's 26OA instead of 32OA.

Question for the Lightning fans.

Starting to notice a trend with Cooper's post game remarks after each game. Seems like after each loss, he's claiming that they are just handing TOR their victories, implying they weren't earned.

Has he done this in previous series'? Or is this just him playing into the media frenzy in TOR?

He always says this, it's not a knock on the Leafs. After every loss: "they didn't have to be that good to beat us tonight, we were bad enough on our own" "we handed it to them on a platter tonight", etc.

Good to know, seems to be rubbing some Leafs fans the wrong way. Mind you it's not that difficult to get some of us riled up these days.

Put it this way: if the only way for them to win had to be in 7 games, I would have MUCH preferred they lose Game 5 (as opposed to Game 6), as it would be a fairly worrying sign if they lost a potential series-clinching game on home ice. This way, if they win Game 6, they go into Toronto for Game 7 with momentum on their side.

It worked for Pittsburgh in 2016 and Washington in 2018 🤞

Verhaeghe has 4 goals in 5 games. (Edit: 5 in 5)

What could have been...

In other news Killorn has 0 goals in 5 games. At least Palat has 2.

He's literally assisted or scored on all 5 of the Panthers goals tonight... Wtf

In case anyone was wondering what's on my mind it's that with Palats contract expiring this season and Killorn next, change might not be such a bad thing.

I don't know if upgrade is the right word, but change could be useful as the team ages and ultimately becomes slower and potentially less hungry(?).

I think if we worked Fortier and Koepke into 20ish+ games next season, both would be ready to go for 23-24.
Fortier as a 4th liner (Perry's and PEB's contracts will be up and Maroon even slower) and Koepke as a middle-six player (Palat and Killorn will be gone).

Koepke, like Colton, aren't/weren't prolific AHL scorers but Koepke also looks to have a play style that should translate most of his AHL production into the NHL if given the right opportunity on the roster.

I would think that if we lose Palat and Killorn we need at least one proven free agent

I think that was the idea behind Hagel.

I don't think we'll get any of the young and hungry type with the amount of cap space we'll have available.

Kessel signing with us for a cup run next year.
Team plans to jointly file for early social security thereafter.
