Can't just reverse trades without reversing signings. Because the Blues traded for Faulk there was no need go sign Petro. By reversing that trade, you also need to sign petro.

Didn’t they try to sign him though but didn’t budge on the figure?

they offered pretty much the same contract, but weren't willing to give a full NMC. That might have changed if Faulk wasn't already signed
