Simple moves yes, but why would the Canucks/Sens/Muzzin agree to those trades? Why do so many Leaf fans hate Kallgren so much? He's a Leafs next year.

Canucks get hometown guy, serviceable RD, prospect and picks. Sens get a veteran presence on their D-line for peanuts and Muzzin gets to stay close to home (Could be mulling retirement if he sustains one more head injury) while the Leafs much needed cap space.

Muzzin is overpaid and Ottawa is not in need of a LHD. Chabot, Sanderson, Holden, Brännström, Del Zotto... But I'm sure there's a team or two out there that'd jump at that.

Canucks get a downgrade of a player, same quality defenceman at a higher cap, and loose change? pass, sorry

Only way I take Muzzin is if Zaitsev is going back.

Agree 100%. With how Keefe has spoken about Kallgren, I think he's likely to be the backup. Especially since he only makes 750K, and we likely are buying out Mrazek, and will need to give Campbell ~4M

Not sure I would say Kerfoot is a downgrade on Garland given the seasons they've just had , but that's subjective and not a hill I would die on. However, that being said, I do agree this deal doesn't really make sense, even on the Leafs side. They are more likely to just trade Holl and Kerfoot for draft capital to free up cap space, rather than trading for two players that cost more against the cap than Kerfoot and Holl.

Fair enough, I just see a younger player in garland who can create more on his own but one thing to keep in mind is teams know what other team's cap situation is, if toronto says they have a guy for sale at the price of a 2nd, he'll get talked down because of their cap situation. He might go for schenn and a mid-late pick, tor gets depth, nucks get the player

The “hometown guy” argument is not gonna get you far. They aren’t going to trade away a core player for a “hometown” guy. I highly doubt Kerfoot produces as much as Garland in Vancouver. As for Holl, idk if I’d even call him serviceable. He’s just bad, plain and simple. The Canucks have enough 7 d-men in our lineup.

Schenn and a mid-round pick for Kerfoot makes a lot more sense for Vancouver

The fact that Leafs fans keep trading Kerfoot for Garland goes to show that they secretly believe Garland is the more valuable player and that they don't trust that Kerfoot's offensive numbers are sustainable

Kerfoot makes 700K in real money after the start of free agency. He's valuable for that reason to several franchises alone.

He has value but the fact that they are cap strapped will be held against them. look at nate schmidt, he was a good player and came with a cap hit, and because VGK didnt have cap space they had to sell really low on him. I think that kerfoot might get more value out of kerfoot but not much more than a 2nd or a #6RD and a 3rd

but we aren't cash strapped. We can easily enter next season with Kerfoot on the roster.
