    As long as the leafs pay AZ to retain or the leafs retain down to RORs contract ya know might not be the worst trade

    You could retain 50% of Tavares contract and Blues decline. ROR has more value than Tavares

    What is this crap?

    You trade for Ladd, who you then trade for Del Zotto, who you then trade for Ferland.

    You made this 22/23, which means Arizona pays Ladd’s signing bonus, and with 31% retained on the remaining $1MM, Ottawa would owe Ladd $690K. If Ottawa buys Ladd out, they reduce that to $460K, just for taking the $3.565MM cap hit over 2 seasons, $3.335MM in 22/23, and $230K in 23/24.
