tanking and rebuilding part 1

Description
spin and spin and the best i can come up with is the sharks best bet for next season is a fringe playoff team. so rather than sit in purgatory we accept a 1 season tank to rebuild and look toward 23/24.
Meier and Burns exit interviews were not positive and it would be ideal to trade them, Meier would be dealt at the peak of his value, Burs while he still has some. New Jersey is an option for Meier but I could see calgary get a little desperate if they lose Gaudreau. adding Monahan to the deal would give Calgary more cap space to resign everyone excluding Gaudreau, and compete for another pacific division championship.
Vegas trade only works if we are not on his list. and hill needs a fresh start.
Burns gets a chance to chase a cup with Pavelski and he would be a decent replacement for klingberg if he bolts.
simek and balcers to give them both a fresh start and to free up roster spots for younger players

we use this year to integrate more future core pieces into the lineup, we suck bad and end up top 5 pick hopefully top 3.
and next year Monahan Dadonov Bonino Are gone, labanc is traded or bought out if needed and vlasic is bought out, again if needed.
next year sharks would have tons of cap space and over a Dozen NHL ready prospects battling for spots, with more 1-3 years away.

Meier return seems a little underwhelming assuming CGY is still a contender, and yes, I know Coronato is a legit good piece. What about moving Monahan and Dadonov at the TDL though? Otherwise looks pretty good.

Rob32 for gm, please. These moves would set us up nicely to contend down the line.

Its not wise for us to part with the EDM 3rd which may turn into a 2nd for Hill. I wouldn't be prepared to do this move. Would prefer to explore other alternatives before considering this move.

I like most of this quite a bit. Would like to see a better return for Meier considering the year he had and taking back over $6 mil in Monahan who is coming off hip surgery this offseason.

Make it Burns with 2 retained for Suter and a second. And good luck getting Suter to waive

i want to suck next year so futures and short term cap dump preferred here. but that’s fair!

I like that return honestly, i think this year pushed his return way up but the 2 previous years still worry teams so i feel this is fair and reasonable. but more would be great if we can swing it.

we’re actually in a good spot believe it or not. the prospect pool is deep and solid but we need a legit game changer plus 2-3 more allstar potential guys. if we could suck and keep Meier and sign him long term i would but his exit interview SCARED me.

than a different 3rd is fine, and it was really a tbd team but chicago would be a good home for him.

Understandable. Id just like to explore other alternatives before parting with a pick on a goalie at this stage. Not a knock on Hill's ability just where we are as a franchise currently.

100% get it, but with you being in a rebuild a long term higher money guy isn't ideal unless a gem drops into your lap and an older vet Isn't the best option either.
I would want a low cost short term guy who if he sucks just gets you that much closet to the top 3 picks and if he excels you lock him up long term or ship him back out for a better return at the TDL.
plus with Chicago admitting to going full rebuild the appeal of the Blackhawks to vets just dropped. Trade for a suitable goalie is the best option.
If not Hill i would venture out for a guy like Georgiev (NYR), he could be had for cheap and has upside, or a reclamation project like Blackwood or Dreiger who might not cost anything and bring back a pick.
