Description
Columbus is one of the very few teams I am going super aggressive with the transactions on my offseason1 team previews for next year. They truly have the pieces to go get chychrun from Arz. Forsberg is such a complete player and he could definitely have a role on this team. Laine probably wants a ton of money so the Jackets can probably move on and save some money with Garland. I am saving some cap for Columbus for deadline acquisitions and to protect some long term cap to sign all these great young players.

I think another team would probably give up more value for Laine than this. But probably not the Canucks.

another cap dump to SJ. We aren't taking cap dumps when we have limited cap and players to sign. Period.

Nyquist at around 3M is not really a cap dump. Points aren’t everything but he had a 53pt season.

I really like the Garland fit in CBJ. I think they could get more actual value but this deal with the combination of Forsberg makes the roster for ideal.

I’d rather just pay Laine that contract. No way he gets more than that anyways

No need for him in SJ regardless.

This is all pretty terrible for Columbus, pretty much the opposite of what their offseason should be.

Jarmo has already stated that he is not moving any of our 1st round picks for older players. He also goes on to say if he did it would be for players that would be very young and be able to have an impact for 9 to 10 years.

Chychrun turned 24 in March. I don’t consider him "old" by any means. If they do move a 1st, it would be for a younger player like Chychrun who could very well play 9-10 yrs down the road.

No he’s not but he is not going to be a player the Jackets are interested in. He has been injured a lot and. Jarmo is more than likely going to hold on to his picks.
