Nylander

Created by: dtd_tank
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: May 16, 2022
Published: May 16, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I know TOR fans are going to want flashy pieces for Nylander, and they would be able to acquire them. But, the thought here is that the flashy pieces haven't gotten TOR deep into the playoffs so far, so maybe they need cap space and some solid, less-flashy players that will put the team first and play with more of an edge.

Suter is worth a lot more than a 3rd which is what you can get Pettersson for. Micke's kid have NEVER been good at centre, not even as a junior. He belongs on a wing.

Yeah, wasn't sure if low picks would go either way in the PIT deal; I was just trying to get a Dman for a forward since I had a lot of F's but not enough D.

Nylander has gone 51% in the NHL on over 1700 draws. I think he's fine in the circle, and would *at least* do a better job at that position than Suter or anyone else in our org at the moment. Once we have a real 2C (be it by draft or otherwise), he would be a fine top 6 winger for us.

HAHAHA. Thank you! I was sitting here wondering where all my cap space went. DIdn't realize I paid Sam 8.5M tears of joy

EDIT: With this corrected, Detroit would go into the 2023 offseason with ~$38.3M (without Kerfoot, Erne, Sundqvist) to re-sign Larkin & Bert, extend Ned, and ready themselves for some ELCs to get their NHL deals the following year.

It's not about faceoffs, it's about his playing style. William is a carbon copy of his dad and they're both known for their mix of genius and irresponsibility, he's incapable of making his linemates better. He needs to be on a wing with a defensively responsible centre beside him so that he has the freedom to do his thing.

Placing him between Bert & Zadina would not be a bad option then. Bert can carry a line and is defensively sound while Zadina is coming along in terms of his 200' game.
