I think the Jackets accept that. Minny gets cap relief and the Jackets get a RHD to pair with Werenski.

Minnesota declines both trade. Greenway isn't getting traded with just signing 3 years extension. Dumba is worth more than that.

Greenway was RFA expiring so it really does not limit the fact he cant be traded. Boston signed debrusk for example but his future with the team is uncertain even with improving through the season. I think Dumba commands more value possibly but it is also situational trade (cap trouble) and bemstrom honestly holds some value and won’t be expensive.

I think Minnesota would love to get some more but they can’t really take cap in trade returns which limits a lot of the league to trade with which is why I left it at that

He just signed a 3 years extension because Guerin wants to keep grief line together..greenway simply isn't getting traded. Debrusk and greenway are different situations.

Asplund is a good player and will save Minnesota some money. Evason will really like him

They are different situations, Minnesota put themselves in a tough situation with the two buyouts so it may cost them a body or two they really like not being in the room next year

Which one is fiala. One of Fleury or Talbot along with Dmitry kulikov is gone.. Gm Guerin doesn't resign players trade them. Especially players like foligno which our beat writer made it clear when greenway was given 3 years extension, he's not getting traded

All these AGM's think Fiala is gone because it is the "fun" thing to do. it is very rare for a team to decide to move on from a young RFA that is super productive like Fiala is. I know a few instances in the past. Those 2nd ovr trade deals, 7th ovr plus a prospect trade, etc. just are not actually going to be on the table for Minnesota as those top picking franchises want to focus on adding a really quality young prospect to their roster as good as Fiala is. I am not saying I agree with picking or getting Fiala for top teams or disagreeing but it is just how the NHL is.

The Wild got a good look at what the GREEF line looks like without Greenway this season. It was just a meh 3rd line with a 47% gf (9gf, 10 ga, 200 mins). With Greenway it was an 83.3% gf (25 gf, 5 ga, 430 mins)

It costs $3m/yr to turn a meh 3rd line into a top tier shutdown; that is why Greenway isn't getting traded.

Guerin took fiala to arbitration last year because he didn't want to give him multi years extension. Even fiala admitted there hasn't been any extension talks and basically at peace with not being in Minnesota. The dude also said his season was a success even with sucking in playoffs something Guerin hates to hear player's say..it's a fact fiala coming back isn't good.

It has been a good line each of the last two seasons. Given the analytics we are fortunate to have in the NHL we can start isolating each of them and see that Foligno is one of the best defensive fwds in the league at even strength, JEE is adding value in both zones and a good shooter, we see greenway who is definitely the forechecker on this line but really does not have great finishing stats nor adding much even strength value on D or O

Greenway adds what the adv stats don't cover. He's a puck possession monster that opens up the ice for the rest of the team. Do the "with and without line tool" and it's apparent that Greenway adds so much to the line. Especially in the HDCF/HDCA categories.

There is absolutely no reason for Sabres to do that trade. Nothing against Greenway. Even if this is even trade - player wise, Sabres are loosing vital member of lockerroom and Wild are getting much needed cap relief.
