Love to see those returns as Leaf fan....but in a cap strapped league...way more sellers than buyers, so the returns would be less...much less.

Giordano wanted to come to TOR as a TDL piece for 20+ games, if hes playing for almost league minimum, he would get offers all over league. I think Giordano gets an easy 1.8mil.

Easy to get Gio to that $1.8M in this scenario, provided the trades go through. Don't sign Holtby and use Kallgren, don't sign Merkley at all and run a 22 man roster. It's doable.

I don’t see Blake making a deal for Nylander. It misses the point of their rebuild if he just leaves after 2 years.

I have him 3 years so really he is getting the same amount of money just at a lower cap hit.

To be fair though, in the world you live in, anyone making more than 5 million is a terrible contract that needs to be given away at any price. Hence why no one would want a point a game player who scored in the top 40 put of 500.

What you wrote about isn't true. But I what like to see Leafs trade Nylander for assets, and then use that cap space to sign an NHL goalie. But if you're happy that the Leafs going with their top 7 players making 58m, and then I would like to reasonable 22 man lineup, with 15 players making 24.5m....I would love to see it.

What goalie is available that will cost so much that we would need to move Nylander though?
