Petersen must steal the role from Quick, he can't be given it. Quick can't be traded, it's bad for morale and Petersen hasn't proven he is the better goalie yet.

If we are losing a 30+ goal scorer to get a more expensive goal scorer (Kempe is expected at $5.5M) and get weaker at LD, how is this a step in the right direction?

Get picks/prospects for Walker, we have too many players who need to be re-upped to give Lindblom a shot.

I'm not ready to give up on Byfield, but I guess I understand the Byfield for Byram argument.

I'd concider it from the buffalo perspective, especially after the Tage revelation of last year.
I havent given up on portillo signing yet tho and we need the goalie.
If i was LA i would be concerned that portillo doesnt seem to want to be in buffalo right now. Theres a chance to earn a starting job here in the ahl and nhl. UPL has had injury issues and levi is a younger prospect. The amerks did well and are making a nice run with their back up goalie right now and he chose to not take a shot at beating out Dell and taking a run at an nhl job next year. Makes me question his compete.
Also you're crazy yo trade byfield.

Edler and Maata were both good on LD last yr and Bjornfot heavily struggled (ik he's young but LAK has a lot of D prospects). I just couldn’t sign them both back on LD, I would hope they bring one of them back. I actually agree with you on the Walker thing. Kempe will probably get 5.5-6 but he doesn’t come even close to the playmaking ability and zone entry game as Nylander does, along with that he still shoots pretty well. One of LA's biggest weaknesses last season was pure zone entry from fwds which is why I think Nylander would be crucial to the success of this time. Byram for byfield and bjornfot would be a chance LAK needs to take given Bjornfot's early struggles and byram has been significantly better than byfield so far. Col does have Girard and Toews on LD and would add bjornfot as a chance who they can actually take the time to properly develop him along with getting two yrs at a rookie deal on byfield vs the one.

I don’t think erik is completely out but I feel like I still respected his value as a goalie if he wants out. LA could definitely use a good goalie prospect like him

I agree with most of these points, but I'm not willing to move Bjornfot just yet. He still is in the top-10 of games played from his draft class. He's two years younger than Durzi and we haven't come close to seeing his ceiling.

I want Byram, but I don't believe Vilardi, Turcotte, or Kupari have what it takes to be a #1 in the NHL, Byfield does, he needs more time.

I know Colorado would need Byfield to have a chance at taking a deal like that, I think bjornfot is negotiable for another prospect or draft choice but you have to give good to get good back. I give a lot of credit for what the Kings accomplished this season but they definitely need to shift towards finding the pieces the fit them best and being practical vs emotional on decisions.

I could see the Sabres moving Portillo
Seems like he feels he’ll be stuck behind 2 other young goalies we have & not get a shot
