Guerins cards were revealed today

Description
If anybody heard Guerin’s segment on KFAN today you know what I’m talking about. He pretty clearly spelled out that Fiala is gone and Dumba is staying. If I were GM I’m probably trading both of them but clearly Guerin has some affinity for Dumba.

Fiala won’t fetch a top 10 pick, especially if Guerin has told the league his plan.
Trade partners are going to drive Fiala’s price way down at this point( since Minnesota will have virtually no other option

Nah it’s a relatively weak draft after the top 3-5 and both Ottawa and New Jersey said they are open to reading their 1st rohnders.

Apparently it’s only Devils fans that subscribe to this notion lol. I hate to break it to you but you’re not getting a PPG winger for a 2nd round pick and Janne Kuokkanen.

Nothing GMBG said in that interview is anything new or secret. It might be nice sound bytes for the fans, but the other GM's around the league already know all of this (and more).

It's not like MN's cap issues are a secret. Fiala's been on his way out of MN since last offseason. The GMs all talk to each other and know who is available and who isn't.

Dumba isn't untouchable by any means, but he is under contract for next year in MN. GMBG is probably also trying to re-sign him this summer. It makes sense to say nice things about him and not create any drama.

I think there's something behind the scenes character wise with Fiala we don't know. Clearly he gave up in the playoffs

He didn't give up. His line was outmatched, and he personally was gripping the stick too tight. He played the right way and did the right things. He also has some bad luck.

MN has a ton of blame to spread around for their failings. Fiala deservers some, but no more than anyone else on the team.

I just feel like paying close watch in playoffs, he did reveal who he's when he get frustrated. There was even a tweet from Russo during one of the game how fiala looked checked our and disinterested on the bench?
To me , I just rather not keep someone around who if he's truly requested kaprizov's money and the way he shows his emotions, & frustration wise. To me even if things aren't going your way, you fight through it. But there's something there, a beef or something with fiala we aren't seeing that Guerin is saying bye to him

You mean restrained like the captain of the team crosschecking someone laying on the ice's ankles?

Who cares what Russo tweets about Fiala? He's called him out all season for whatever reason about things that everyone on the team does. Fiala is a TO machine if you listen to Russo, yet Zucc was roughly the same pace and Kaprizov many more.

Looking bored and disinterested on the bench? Did you see any of the coaches doing any type of coaching that warranted attention? The entire team was flat in G4-G6, the bench looked defeated overall.

GMBG hasn't like Fiala since he didn't take his lowball long term contract offer last season.

NJ said that before winning 2OA. They won’t trade that pick for Fiala. And I doubt Ottawa will move their pick if they’re the only suitor for Fiala then. They could very realistically drive down that price, unless they’re convinced to bid against themselves.

I would give up Holtz and a 2nd. If Guerin says no, it’s easy to just keep those assets, move on and sign another good winger in this stacked UFA class, and let another team pay up.

The thing is, another team shouldn’t pay up, when we all know Minnesota can’t afford Fiala. And since everyone knows that, there’s no way he will get traded for what he’s actually worth.

I really hope the sens don't trade their pick. They're not ready to be trading 1st round picks yet despite popular belief

Agreed. Nothing Guerin said on KFAN should be a surprise to Wild fans. The only "new" thing I took away from it is that I don't see Guerin maximizing Fiala's value in a trade. Not because his "cards were shown", but it's clear he doesn't value him highly so I don't think he's going to ask for much in return. At this point I would be surprised if we got much more than what Buchnevich got. Par for the course for Minnesota sports Help

I would easily take Holtz and a 2nd as a return but Ottawa doesn’t have a Holtz type player in their system right now and the trade has to be centered around something. If teams aren’t gonna offer anything of value then Guerin will just let somebody offer sheet Fiala and we will gladly take their unprotected 2023 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick, especially if it’s a team like NJ or Ottawa, their 2023 1sts could legitimately be top 10 picks in a very deep draft.
