Tkachuk Affair

Created by: Julesens
Team: 2022-23 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: May 20, 2022
Published: May 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Let's have some fun. Time to link up the bros. Just.... imagine.

Either offer sheet him for relatively expendable compensation or offer a trade. If Calgary is really in a cap crunch, make it hard on them, maybe you'll unite the Brothers Tkachuk.

Bring in Konecny and become everybody's least favourite team to play against.

While we're at it, dump the dead cap.

I'd buy season seats if this was the offseason outcome.

No thank you on that Matt Murray contract. Rather sign Campbell or Husso. That trade really just helps OTT out of a cap issue.

Most likely would scoff at this deal, but in fantasyland he takes it and everyone cries

Calgary has almost $27MM in cap space with 14 players in place. Good luck on that offer sheet.

Matthew and Brady can play together when they’re over 30 and made their big NHL money

probably in STL too, which just seems like destiny and I couldn't be mad. But until then, dreamers gonna dream. Last year Flames could've offer sheeted Brady, now Sens fans gonna dream the other

take away ~11 with Gaudreau and it gets a little bit harder. If OTT offered 10 mil, maybe 4 1sts would push Flames management to allow him to walk. Now, if I'm a Flames fan, Tkachuk is the #1 priority and you give him what he wants. This is just a world where literally everything goes the Sens way

1. Calgary matches the offer-sheet.

2. We are not spending picks to dump Murray or Zaitsev.

3. Philly says "Thank you, Come again".

I actually hoped the Flames would put an offer sheet in last year haha.

I think it’s very likely that the Flames throw a ton of money at Gaudreau and Tkachuk, whether or not they accept it is another story.

Interesting off-season coming up. The Flames can either return the top end of their roster or be very, very close to a rebuild . Gaudreau leaving and Tkachuk on his QO completely change the dynamic

but if you can pick one, you gotta go with MT, right? He's the kind of guy you never find. Gaudreau had a massive year no doubt but if his price tag is over 11 mil you need to let him walk. Look at the top heavy Leafs as a reason to spread the wealth

Gaudreau is priority #1 because he's a UFA. I was never a big Gaudreau guy, but he's won me over this year. He's committed himself to playing away from the puck. He's cut-out the whining to refs. He's really matured as a player.

Tkachuk is one of my favourite Flames, but if the Flames were to build the offence around him, that would be a mistake IMO. His skating is at absolute best, NHL average , likely below average, and he's really not a threat off the rush. Very good player, but if he is the guy driving the offence, the Flames will struggle to score
