I think the Leafs would have to attach a 2nd and a 4th to interest Chicago in taking Humpty Dumpty Mrazek. Leafs might be better off buying him out.

Los Angeles isn't interested in this effort to shed significant cap.

Absolutely no interest in installing Jake Muzzin 2.0 even if he would waive his NTC, plus we could re-sign Alex Edler for less than Jake's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to re-acquire Muzz. Will you Toronto guys please stop doing this? It's like the Montreal guys with their silly Jeff-Petry-to-Detroit trades. And Blake Lizotte is a perfectly acceptable fourth-line center, so that package is a significant overpayment.

If Muzzin were to accept a trade (he won't, his best chance at winning is in Toronto), he'd have to waive and it would need to be quick, as the Leafs do not have flexible cap at this moment. This means the team he is being traded to a team (the Kings) that would hold the negotiating power.

Add to this, the Kings specifically traded Muzzin to get younger and faster. Furthermore, Muzzin has had several threatening concussions and long-term injuries which is a difficult pill to swallow for a 33 year-old who still has two years remaining at $5.625.

How many more hurdles do you need to see that the Kings taking Muzzin for anything of value isn't happening?

Hawks are going to need more to take on Mrazek's contract.

Not sure if you've hear but both Friedman and Johnson have said that the kings are looking for a leadership type role on their backend who can play, and specifically discussed their interest in getting muzzin back. Im not a leafs fan but the way he played against tampa showed he can compete at a high level, and will improve their d corps significantly. Is the price a little off? maybe? but in no means would it be a 'cap dump' like you suggest

Sounds fair, i chose them because i think its a realistic landing spot but defintiely dont disagree that it make require more.

They certainly are looking for a player like Muzzin, but younger and with far less miles and at a cheaper cap hit. The Kings are still in on Chychrun and Forsberg the minute the Kings get Muzzin they are out on both. If the Leafs move Muzzin they need to do it first thing. There are just so many hurdles to make it happen, (Muzzin waiving his rights, the Kings giving up on trades/free agents they have openly been pursuing, getting older players after a rebuild). I get it from the Leafs point of view, I don't get it from the Kings with the moves they have been moving towards.
