more so just a team thats rebuilding doesnt have to be the jackets

Boston is in cap trouble, and they can use the 1st to build for the future while maintaining competitiveness as guys continue to take discounts with them

I’d think if they were to get rid of Sammy then they sign and trade after his performance this year.
Any picks would be value.
I still think they resign him though

Playoff team next year with this roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>Last 3 years among goalies with 40gp, Swayman ranks:
SV% - T-5th
GAA - T-1st
GSAA - 9th
HDSV% - 8th
HDGAA - 1st
HDGSAA - 10th
He's 24yrs old and arguably a top 10 goalie in the NHL and he's not even in his prime yet. Now if you want to counter with "he's good because of the team in front of him" well......
AHL - 1.99 GAA / .925 SV%
NCAA - 2.51 GAA / .927 SV%
His final year in Maine he was the busiest goaltender in college hockey facing more shots and making more saves than any other goalie. He won the Richter for best NCAA goalie and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker for best player in college hockey.
Everything points to Swayman just being a really good goalie. Ullmark has 2yrs left and will be 32yrs old when he goes to FA. Swayman will be 26yr old and in his prime. The Bruins would be stupid to take a futures for him. Those picks could never become NHL regulars and statically there is a 75% chance the 1st would play 99+ games and a 14% chance that the 3rd plays 99+ NHL games.</div></div>
I never said he wasnt good. Im all for everything you said. But then bruins should consider moving Ullmark instead. Its managing their assets as they head into a soon to be rebuild

He's playing 12 minutes a night and hasnt got a point in over a month. They also moved on from a former 2nd rounder and top prospect in the Kuemper deal in Timmins for a low end AHLer. Just seem they have a rep for giving up on players and not sure Hayton will be worth anything by the time their rebuild is over.

This was an off the board trade but my thinking behind it is boone wont really be as valuable next time they are ready to compete and have 2 centres coming up... so they get a scoring winger, 2 solid draft picks, and a nhl ready defenceman

Thats a good point, I think the value is on point, it would maybe be dependent on a decent extension for kerfoot? More so, leafs would be looking for a similar player to lazotte if elsewhere!!

THANK YOU GIO 2nd round attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>If Muzzin were to accept a trade (he won't, his best chance at winning is in Toronto), he'd have to waive and it would need to be quick, as the Leafs do not have flexible cap at this moment. This means the team he is being traded to a team (the Kings) that would hold the negotiating power.
Add to this, the Kings specifically traded Muzzin to get younger and faster. Furthermore, Muzzin has had several threatening concussions and long-term injuries which is a difficult pill to swallow for a 33 year-old who still has two years remaining at $5.625.
How many more hurdles do you need to see that the Kings taking Muzzin for anything of value isn't happening?</div></div>
Not sure if you've hear but both Friedman and Johnson have said that the kings are looking for a leadership type role on their backend who can play, and specifically discussed their interest in getting muzzin back. Im not a leafs fan but the way he played against tampa showed he can compete at a high level, and will improve their d corps significantly. Is the price a little off? maybe? but in no means would it be a 'cap dump' like you suggest

Tatar isn't getting much after being a scratch throughout playoffs. Reports say between 2.5-3 on a short term deal. So maybe underpaid by about 200k which can still fit in the cap structure here.

no love for engvall because the leafs clearly need more scoring on their lower lines, he doesn't do that. he's a good fit on other teams, just not the leafs unfortunately
