Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Wolf, Dustin
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
I know Flames fans won't like Wolf being moves but the truth is that with Markstrom as your #1 there isn't a chance for Wolf to grow. Management has to view him a trade chip and not a part of a winning team in the next 3-5 years.
CGY
  1. Duszak, Joseph [RFA Rights]
  2. Muzzin, Jake
Additional Details:
Value here is based on the Keith trade. Whether Calgary wins the cup this year or not they have a lot to do in the summer and have a clear hole at 2LD.

Some will disagree with the value but we've seen over and over again how much GMs pay for veteran Ds especially those who are viewed as leaders and physical which Muzzin is. He is also a cup winner and bring all those intangibles GMs value.

Reason he is leaving Toronto is simply that Sandin needs more icetime and Gio's resigning takes away the possibility of Muzzin taking a reduced role.

Also don't write off Duszak as a nobody. He is a 24 year old D who put up 52 points in 61 games in the AHL last year. Not a guaranteed NHL player but definitely has potential.
2.
TOR
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Florida's lack of defense was exposed in the playoffs. Kerfoot is they type of player they need, the price is affordable and can be recouped if they are serious about moving bennet as most rumors seem to suggest.

If he doesn't go to Florida, many other teams will take him given he is only owed $750k next year, could even end up being a move to Arizona or Ottawa to save money then flip him at the deadline to a contender. Given he has a 10 team no trade tho I think Florida is most realistic as a team he will allow a trade to.
FLA
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
Additional Details:
Kerfoot has the 6th highest points among players with a $3M-$4M salary. He got 51 points averaging just 8 seconds per game of PP time, kills penalties and is an overall great utility forward.

I compare moving him to Tampa's decision to move JT Miller. You know he will just become better but you can't afford the salary anymore. Replacing him in the bottom 6 with cheaper options to all us to spend on top end players just makes sense.
3.
TOR
  1. 2022 5th round pick (DAL)
  2. 2023 7th round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Major holes on the RD for Dallas after this year. Deal makes sense for them, its a low cost for someone who just a year ago looked at home as a top 4 RD who would easily have fetched a 2nd in a trade.

Would be open to Kerfoot. Wonder if Florida would counter by offering a 3rd rounder.

Florida's in no position to be adding Kerfoots $3,500,000 cap hit.

Calgary has no desire to take on 5.6m in for Muzzin. Serious doubt Muzzin has a desire waive to Calgary. There has been hundreds of AHL Dmen who put up big points. Really means nothing if they are NHL capable.
Florida's defence has been lacking all year. But for cap strapped Panthers willing to take on 3.5m cap for Kerfoot without sending cap back to the Leafs seems rather hopeful for the Leafs.

Don’t know about that. I’m certain Zito is going to move multiple d-men this offseason, including Weegar, Gudas, & Montour.

If Zito moves out those players, It will be for players that are a lot better than Alexander Kerfoot that's for sure.

Yeah someone was saying that he wouldn't waive for a Tkachuk team, so I'm assuming that means there is some bad blood there

Kerfoot would be a deadline acquisition for a contender as a rental, chances are he gets moved for a prospect+pick to a middle of the pack team, maybe a rebuilding team that is starting to shift towards contention than can potentially sign him or move him at the deadline

Realistic?

Some of those RFA/UFA offers are very unrealistic. Some of the trades are unrealistic, and I love these Leaf proposals that just throw a big contract on LTIR just to create a lineup under the cap.

That's not the reason. He has full NTC. His family lives in the Toronto area. Leafs are a good team. So, there is no logical reason why Muzzin waives to any team....well maybe Tampa.
Plus Muzzin likely isn't worth his 5,6m X 2 contract. Teams just don't take on bad, iffy contracts without sending similar cap back in a trade.

According to capfriendly the details of his NTC is that he gets a 10 team no trade list. I'm guessing you are right though, but they can perhaps convince him to waive. They would consult him regardless of the NTC details, so he wouldn't get moved if he didn't want to be moved.

If they wanted to force him though they could still send him to the minors, and bury some of that cap, not that I think they would.

Sending a player to the minors, saves about 300,000 in cap maximum. But the problem still arises....what team wants Muzzin and his 5.6m cap hit in a trade?

Yh only saves 300k, wasnt sure if the bury penalty was % related or a capped amount
