Myers absolutely stinks and recently cleared waivers. Muzzin showed hes still a 3rd defender at worst and shut down tampas big guns all series.
Terrible trade for the leafs

They really need to stop Toronto fans from making trades with Buffalo.

Another example of the "what have you done for me lately" hockey world completely writing off a young player after one bad year who has otherwise been a promising prospect for years.

Muzzin will have to be moved either this year or next and at that salary we aren't getting much of a return.

Who got lowballed? And how do you justify giving Campbell more than 3 mil after his game tanked for half the season?

So myers is getting written off but muzzin isnt? Muzzin is a top pairing defender who is paid well within the range of top pairing guys and he's going to need a paltry return but a 25 year old who has never been anything morw than promising is worth his bad contract?

Ullmark got 5 mil from Boston last UFA. Campbell will get at least that. Just because you choose to live in fantasy land doesn't mean I have to. Campbell isn't taking backup goalie money. This is his one chance to get a big payday and he's not going to knuckle under for any team.

Bahaha, I'd be shocked if Campbell gets more than 5 mil. Besides, guys who re-sign with their current team usually get less than they'd get on the open market. Campbell is a loyal guy who I don't see wanting to leave.

What makes you think Muzzin is a top pair defender? He hasn't been that since he came to Toronto. He's also coming off multiple concussions in a short period of time and a poor season, other than the playoffs. If you're moving out an older guy with that many question marks who makes $5.625 mil, it's going to require either some money coming back or retention.

He has been most of his time with Toronto, and he was once he was healthy in the playoffs.
And as far as moving older players with injuries, why is this an issue for muzzin but not gibson or anyone else?
He wouldn't need a bad contract or retention because hes good and healthy and has all those intangibles gms crave

Muzzin has NEVER played on Toronto's top pair except when Rielly is injured. No idea what you're talking about.

Yet Nashville managed to get McDonagh, who is better than Muzzin, for Myers and Grant Mismash.

Yet tampa actually needed to dump players for anything because they were hooped by the cap much worse than the leafs were.
It's almost like context is important
