Domi was loosing his balance at the same time he was going for the hit. It looks bad but it wasn’t intentional. Back in the day no one even bats an eye at this stuff

So just cause he's falling your allowed to nail someone in the head (with your elbow loaded before you even hit) and then leave both your feet?

I’m saying he could not have stopped. Once you commit to a hit at that speed you are going through with it. He also left his feet because that’s part of finishing a check. If Domi didn’t lose his skates he would have likely hit him in the chest. I do think the instigator penalty was BS but that’s a stupid rule the NHL needs to do away with

trouba is the CEO of borderline hits that he gets away with because he has no history, which is kind of dumb.

But the facts of the game don’t change. There’s nothing Trouba can do there to avoid contact

Yes but when this is another of many headshots he's had its an issue. And it always happens to be a huge scoring threat at the moment (Crosby, Guentzel, Domi). Whether he fell or not he leads with his elbow out on every check. And Domi didn't fall that much, he was just starting to slip and he went straight through his head, would've been a shoulder to the head if he didn't slip at least.

I get why you’re mad because I would be too. He did have a couple questionable hits in your series with them. Lindgren did as well. He had a bad hit earlier this year as well on Jujuhar. I am not saying the guy plays by the book, but I’m saying I can’t find fault with that particular hit. I do think the penalty to Lorenz that was called needs to be tossed out of the rule book ASAP

I think if he didn't have the history this playoffs it would be talked about a lot less, but still think him leaving his feet and having the elbow out made this one bad. I agree on the Lindgren one though, his hit on Rakell was the worst of the series.

Pens fan here, so obviously not giving Trouba any leeway, but unfortunate clean hit. Arm down, elbow tucked to his body, didn't leave his feet until into the hit, and only head contact because Domi was ducking/falling. Hit on Jake was 10 times worse.

trouba does have a history tho the last couple years... granted most of his questionable hits haven't been penalized or suspended but still that doesn't excuse his behaviour...

maybe if the NHL eventually gave him suspension or fine he would stop doing this kind of stuff

yeah that's the thing, he has no suspension or fine history so he gets the benefit of the doubt from player safety but has a clear history of questionable hits
