Thanks for the well thought out explanation and an alternative solution. Nylander would be perfect for Anaheim - sandals, the beach, shirts unbuttoned, instagram photos, f*ck the duck, score a couple goals...

Nylander is a point a game player, Drysdale is still currently a prospect. Silfverberg is a cap dump. You're just being silly

It's silly to think that the Ducks are in any position to trade a top prospect for a guy with 2 years left before he hits the open market.

It's a trade neither team has any appetite for. The last thing the Leafs need is a small offensive defenceman. He's going to be good no doubt but we have Rielly to do what he does. This would make a massive hole upfront to upgrade something we already are very good in. The Ducks being a rebuilder likely want Drysdale more than Nylander. The value isn't that far off but it doesn't make any sense anyways. Think this offer is the equivalent of a cap dump for the best goal scorer in the game is ridiculous

@Antredianaheim-Please apologize for making an absolutely outrageous counter offer to a trade that makes no sense for the Ducks...you've offended the head of the "The Leafs are the only team that gets picked on here! Nobody else gets picked on!" club, and I simply won't stand for it!

But in all seriousness, if a trade makes zero sense for one side, and they counter with a trade that makes zero sense for the other side, is one actually worse than the other? Like, the idea of the Leafs simply trading away Nylander to acquire a top prospect, to then turn around and sign a completely adequate replacement for cheaper (Though ouuuuu baby what is that term tears of joy) seems no less outrageous to the fans of a rebuilding team than if Auston Matthews being traded for a decent defensive forward on a bad contract and a 5th round pick would seem to the fans of a good team.

Trade 1) Bad.
Trade 2) Bad.

There's really no point trying to make either seem worse than the other.

Well that's backhanded insult if there ever was one.

Sorry! Wasn't meant to be, and as I re-read it, I realize that it probably was.

I feel like we'd have some good hockey chats over a couple of beers. Cheers dude.

The value is way off but youre arguably the biggest homer on CF so...

Naaah. The Ducharme guy for Montreal is worse. Logan isn't even the worst Toronto homer -- Jared of London is much, much worse.

Two years of William Nylander in exchange for a career of Jamie Drysdale would be atrocious asset management on a scale that only fans of a team that has 50% -- FIFTY PERCENT! -- of its cap hit invested in 4 players could appreciate.
