Description

Florida gets rid of the $10mm elephant in the room and gets a Giroux replacement in Toews, who I'd guarantee would thrive in Florida. Edmonton gets rid of Kassian and adds Kurashev to serve a similar 3rd/4th line role with higher offensive upside at a much cheaper cap hit. NJD has mentioned the willingness to trade #2 for an impact player, and DeBrincat is a goal-scoring machine, hence the Holtz add-on. Arizona trades up for Cooley and tacks on the likely 29th-32nd pick.

DeBrincat only has a year left at 6.4 AAV. I value Holtz’s potential, ELC, plus the 2OA’ potential and 3 year ELC more at that point.

I wouldn’t give up Savoie unless it’s for something pretty special. That isn’t it.

totally fair - depends on whether a GM wants to gamble on future potential or go and acquire someone with proven results. Besides a flukey 2018/19 season, DeBrincat scores at a near .5 gpg clip.

EDM doesn't have cap space this upcoming season. Look at it from the perspective that you're giving up Savoie for an impact free agent signing, maybe Kubalik's RFA rights.

Savoie has similar NHLe numbers in the past 2 seasons to Cole Caufield. He's not getting traded as a sweetener for a mild cap dump.
